Sean Patrick Maloney challenged Joe Scarborough directly, accusing him Friday of pushing Republican talking points on defunding the police.<\/p>\n<p>Maloney accused <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/02\/17\/joe-scarborough-mocks-lindsey-graham-change-mind-chase-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scarborough<\/a> of \u201cranting\u201d when he asked several times whether Democrats would embrace calls to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/15\/dan-bongino-geraldo-rivera-debate-hannity-daunte-wright\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">defund the police<\/a> going into the 2022 midterm elections. <strong><a class=\"text-black\" href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/05\/msnbc-joe-scarborough-follow-science-schools-open-charlie-sykes\/\">(RELATED: \u2018I\u2019m Sorry If Politicians Are Scared Of Teacher\u2019s Unions\u2019: Joe Scarborough Goes Off On School Re-Opening Pushback)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo Democrats support defunding the police, first of all, and secondly, the Cook Political Report said Democrats lost 25 of 25 contested House races in 2020. And I think most analyses believe at least in the House races, Democrats badly underperformed expectations,\u201d Scarborough began. \u201cSo address those two and, again, if you could specifically answer the question, again, it\u2019s not the question that I\u2019m asking. It\u2019s the question that Republicans will continue to ask, do Democrats support defunding the police?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight. The answer is no. And you are asking the question and you\u2019re repeating a Republican talking point for reasons I don\u2019t know,\u201d Maloney replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, no, let \u2014 no, let me tell you why \u2014\u201d Scarborough pushed back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExcuse me. I\u2019m trying to answer your question,\u201d Maloney protested.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/06\/joe-scarborough-willie-geist-republican-party-mlb-all-star-game-georgia-election-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scarborough<\/a> kept pushing, saying that he was forced to repeat questions because Democrats had done such a poor job of answering questions about socialism, cancel culture and other major issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m repeating it because if you believe that Kevin McCarthy should be Speaker of the House, keep pretending that none of that happened and keep saying that the House did a good job in 2020 because they did not. House Democrats did a poor job,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/07\/joe-scarborough-willie-geist-mika-brzezinski-joe-biden-rob-manfred-georgia-election-law-masters-tournament\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scarborough<\/a> insisted. \u201cSo my question is are you going into 2022 with eyes wide open?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight. So as my friend Maxine Waters said to Jim Jordan, you\u2019re ranting again,\u201d Maloney said. <strong><a class=\"text-black\" href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/15\/maxine-waters-scolds-jim-jordan-dr-fauci\/\">(RELATED: \u2018Respect The Chair And Shut Your Mouth\u2019: Maxine Waters Interrupts Tense Exchange With Dr. Fauci To Scold Jim Jordan)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you don\u2019t really care whether Democrats win or not in 2022, okay,\u201d Scarborough shot back. \u201cLet our viewers know that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, that\u2019s what I said. How about you let me answer the question?\u201d Maloney continued. \u201cThe answer to the question is Kevin McCarthy is the Minority Leader and we hold the gavels, Joe \u2026 That\u2019s what winning looks like. Can we learn from 2020? You bet. You didn\u2019t hear me say everything went well. What I told you is I\u2019m not going to run the other way because on shows like this you insist on repeating these Republican talking points when you know it\u2019s a lie that we don\u2019t want to defund the police.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scarborough agreed that it was a lie, saying that his intent was not to repeat or amplify lies but to ask whether Democrats would be prepared to counter them in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m calling them lies and I\u2019m curious \u2014 as are a lot of Democrats and a lot of Democratic activists and a lot of Democratic donors \u2014 if Democrats are going to be able to stop Kevin McCarthy from being the next Speaker of the House,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Maloney continued to push back, saying that Democrats were absolutely prepared for the 2022 midterms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are responsible adults delivering good government and economic growth and they are a party wrapped around the axle of some very dangerous and irresponsible elements. But I\u2019m not going to stand here and kick around some stupid Republican lie about our fight for racial justice as though it\u2019s worth talking about,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democratic New York Rep.
