The outlet confirmed that the report stated Queen Elizabeth hosted a ceremony as the Earl Peel retired as Lord Chamberlain.<\/p>\n<p>A source from the royal palace told <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/royals\/queen-elizabeth-will-never-abdicate-philip-would-have-wanted-her-to-crack-on-says-former-aide\/\">People<\/a>&nbsp;that the Queen will continue her duties. The former aide said, \u201cHer family will step up and be by her side, but she will carry on. She understands that she has a job to do, and [Philip] would have wanted her to crack on. She did do so when he retired from public life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to People, a close royal insider added, \u201cShe will never abdicate because of duty and honor and public service is so deep in her, as it was for him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Buckingham Palace made the announcement about the royal\u2019s death on Friday, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-prince-philip-husband-to-queen-elizabeth-dead-at-99\">The Daily Wire<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"11\">\n<p><em>\u201cIt is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle,\u201d a message posted to the royal family\u2019s website says. \u201cFurther announcements will be made in due course. The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-prince-philip-husband-to-queen-elizabeth-dead-at-99\">As reported by The Daily Wire<\/a>, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, married Elizabeth in 1947 and the two were married for 73 years. He served beside her for 65 years during her reign as monarch. Philip retired from public life in 2017, which made him the longest-serving consort in British history. The queen was deeply complimentary of Philip over the years, calling him her \u201cstrength and stay\u201d in a 1997 speech on their 50th wedding anniversary, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/world\/prince-philip-husband-britain-s-queen-elizabeth-ii-dies-99-n1258159\">NBC News<\/a>. \u201cI, and his whole family, and this and many other countries, owe him a debt greater than he would ever claim or we shall ever know,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Prince William seems to hold a similar view about continuing on after his grandfather\u2019s death, which was evidenced in his tribute to the late royal on Monday. In a post on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CNkRn-xliiv\/\">Instagram<\/a>, Prince William wrote, \u201cMy grandfather was an extraordinary man and part of an extraordinary generation. Catherine and I will continue to do what he would have wanted and will support The Queen in the years ahead. I will miss my Grandpa, but I know he would want us to get on with the job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Queen Elizabeth is 94 years old, and Prince Philip was 99 years old when he passed away. His funeral will be held on Saturday, April 16, with COVID-19 restrictions in place. The official whose retirement ceremony the Queen attended on Tuesday was in charge of the funeral arrangements <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/queen-elizabeth-royal-duties-prince-philip-63ee8606720104eed47d6dabce638928\">before handing them over<\/a> to the person who took on the role. Prince Harry is expected to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/meghan-markle-wont-join-prince-harry-who-will-return-for-prince-philips-funeral-in-first-visit-since-oprah-winfrey-interview\">attend the ceremony<\/a>, returning to the United Kingdom for the first time in over a year.
