Tucker has taken Trump&#8217;s place as a right-wing leader, an outrage generator, a fire-starter\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/y8OzdAlSlN\">pic.twitter.com\/y8OzdAlSlN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Brian Stelter (@brianstelter) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brianstelter\/status\/1371139124305002499?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 14, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>\u201cTucker has taken Trump\u2019s place as a right-wing leader, as an outrage generator, as a fire-starter, and it\u2019s all happening on Fox, just like Trump\u2019s campaign did,\u201d said Stelter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This past weekend, Stelter continued his one-man campaign against Fox News by arguing that high-profile figures at the conservative outlet should be mimicking their counterparts on other networks by sharing \u201cvaccine selfies\u201d or being vaccinated while on-air.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt\u2019s really important to see all these TV anchors, personalities, showing themselves getting the shot,\u201d Stelter began. \u201cWe\u2019ve seen a lot of vaccine selfies from lots of folks at lots of different networks. It\u2019s been really inspiring to see.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cSo, I say all of that to make the following point: Where are Tucker and Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham? Where is Ainsley Earhardt and Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade? Where are the biggest stars on Fox getting vaccinated?\u201d he asked his guest, the equally objective Matt Gertz from Media Matters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Unsurprisingly, Gertz\u2019s response was that Fox \u201chas a really unique responsibility,\u201d and that these figures were abhorrent for \u201craising questions about [the vaccine\u2019s] effectiveness, raising questions about whether it is dangerous.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Throughout this segment, one chyron stood out above the rest as a perfect metaphor for Stelter as a \u201cjournalist\u201d as he wages war against his enemies on the Right: <\/span><em><span>\u201c<\/span><span>Fox\u2019s Biggest Stars Have Not Shared Vaccine Selfies.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span>Setting aside that CNN happily gave Democratic politicians a platform to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/where-are-tucker-and-sean-hannity-and-laura-ingraham-cnns-brian-stelter-demands-that-fox-news-stars-show-their-vaccine-selfies\">question<\/a> the safety and efficacy of these same vaccines when Donald Trump was in the White House, Stelter\u2019s ongoing obsession with keeping Fox News \u201crelevant\u201d in the eyes of his audience has reached new desperate lows.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>It\u2019s not that the \u201cchecks and balances\u201d goal of his show isn\u2019t necessarily worthwhile \u2014 after all, there are conservative outlets who work to keep CNN \u201chonest.\u201d However, what is quite telling is the embarrassing pettiness of Stelter\u2019s hunger to remain relevant as he sincerely leans into the camera and tries to dramatically sew a connection between all that is bad in the world and those over at Fox News \u2026 many of whom are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cnns-brian-stelter-plunges-again-in-ratings-after-host-obsesses-over-fox-news-and-tucker-carlson\">destroying<\/a> him in the ratings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>To Stelter, the chyron \u201cFox\u2019s Biggest Stars Have Not Shared Vaccine Selfies\u201d doubtlessly elicits excited gasps of anticipation. To his viewers, whose numbers are unsurprisingly dwindling, such an \u201cannouncement\u201d only seems to elicit one response: \u201cSo what, Brian?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A response which is honestly appropriate for the vast majority of his reporting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i>Ian Haworth is an Editor and Writer for The Daily Wire.
