Barr made the statements during a press conference at the Justice Department to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/speech\/attorney-general-william-p-barr-delivers-remarks-pan-am-103-press-conference\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announce the filing of charges<\/a> against Abu Agila Muhammad Mas\u2019ud Kheir Al-Marimi in the 1988 terrorist bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. Mas\u2019ud is reportedly being held by the Libyan government.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month Barr said he had <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/election-2020-donald-trump-robert-mueller-statutes-elections-ae0275b4eb23981c1e6fbf9fc49c3239\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">secretly appointed<\/a> U.S. Attorney John Durham as special counsel in October to investigate the government\u2019s handling of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation.
