They\u2019ve been scamming since day 1,\u201d another suggested.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">\u201cVallejo for Social Justice, a movement that describes itself as \u2018Abolition + Socialist collective in the struggle for liberation, self-determination, &amp; poor, working-class solidarity,\u2019 said it was an ill-judged flaunting of wealth,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-9456145\/Shell-pick-white-people-complain-BLM-founder-buys-1-4M-LA-home.html\">according to the Daily Mail<\/a>. \u201c\u2018We\u2019re talking generational wealth off of the deaths &amp; struggle of Black folks here,\u2019 they tweeted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnother Twitter user called Cullors a \u2018fraud\u2019 and said her brand of \u2018Marxism\u2019 apparently included buying a $1.4 million house,\u201d the outlet added.<\/p>\n<p>Khan-Cullors has her own wealth. She published a best-selling book, \u201cWhen They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir,\u201d in 2018, and has inked lucrative deals with entertainment companies like Warner Bros. to produce original programming aimed at moving the ball forward on social and racial justice.<\/p>\n<p>But Black Lives Matter, as a whole, has faced a recent backlash of its own, after revealing, earlier in 2021, that it raked in a shocking $90 million over the course of 2020, following the death of George Floyd while in the custody of Minneapolis police \u2014 an incident that sparked a major, national push for racial justice.<\/p>\n<p>The foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/black-lives-matter-90-million-finances-8a80cad199f54c0c4b9e74283d27366f\">told the Associated Press<\/a>, when it revealed its 2020 largesse, that it was in the process of creating \u201cinfrastructure\u201d that would help to handle doling out the donations to community organizations and racial justice groups.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of our biggest goals this year is taking the dollars we were able to raise in 2020 and building out the institution we\u2019ve been trying to build for the last seven and a half years,\u201d Khan-Cullors told the AP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to uplift Black joy and liberation, not just Black death,\u201d the group said. \u201cWe want to see Black communities thriving, not just surviving.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But, in recent weeks, the national BLM organization has faced questions about its transparency and its spending.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Component-root-0-2-62 Component-p-0-2-53\">\u201cA group of 10 chapters, called the #BLM10, rejected the foundation\u2019s funding offer last year and complained publicly about the lack of donor transparency. Foundation leaders say only a few of the 10 chapters are recognized as network affiliates,\u201d the Associated Press reported. \u201cIn a letter released Nov. 30, the #BLM10 claimed most chapters have received little to no financial resources from the BLM movement since its launch in 2013. That has had adverse consequences for the scope of their organizing work, local chapter leaders told the AP.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The family of Mike Brown, whose death in a police-involved shooting in Ferguson, Missouri, sparked a wave of donations to national BLM, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/family-of-mike-brown-ferguson-protest-organizers-demand-20-million-from-black-lives-matter\">revealed in March that their organization received just $500 from the group<\/a>, and demanded that the organization cut them a $20 million check from their $90 million war chest.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
