On Thursday, GOP Governor Bill Lee (R) signed the bill, which permits any Tennessean 21 and older to carry a handgun without a permit.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I signed constitutional carry today because it shouldn\u2019t be hard for law-abiding Tennesseans to exercise their <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/2A?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#2A<\/a> rights. Thank you members of the General Assembly and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NRA?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@NRA<\/a> for helping get this done. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/xv2ZenOEZq\">pic.twitter.com\/xv2ZenOEZq<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Gov. The new legislation does not apply to long guns and was backed by members of the general assembly and the NRA.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">NRA members and Tennessee&#8217;s law-abiding gun owners thank <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovBillLee?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@GovBillLee<\/a>, Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WilliamLamberth?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@WilliamLamberth<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenMikeBell?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SenMikeBell<\/a>, for their hard work and leadership on this vital piece of self-defense legislation.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NRA (@NRA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NRA\/status\/1380241342027157514?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 8, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Meanwhile, GOP lawmakers have continued to fight for Second Amendment rights as Biden pushes for stricter gun control laws.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf D.C. or the White House starts to do a gun grab or anything that we would view in the state that is something that is unconstitutional or goes against what we as a state believe is our gun rights and our constitutional rights,\u201d Rep.
