During cross-examination at Derek Chauvin\u2019s trial Friday, Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Andrew Baker said he took into account George Floyd\u2019s prior drug use and the effects.<\/p>\n<p>During the prosecution\u2019s redirect, Dr. Baker said he stood by his analysis of the direct causes that ended Floyd\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat today remains your opinion as to the cause of death for Mr. Floyd?\u201d questioned prosecutor Jerry Blackwell.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo my opinion remains unchanged,\u201d Dr. Baker stated. \u201cIt\u2019s what I put on the death certificate last June. That\u2019s cardiopulmonary arrest, complicating law enforcement, subdural restraint and neck compression. That was my top line then. It would stay my top line now.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Medical Examiner Dr Baker: &#8220;I have no special expertise in looking at videos. Is that true?\u201d Blackwell asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are not direct causes of Mr. Floyd\u2019s death,\u201d Dr. Baker replied. \u201cThat\u2019s true.
