The money will instead be put toward neighborhood community groups with $1.4 million of it to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/04\/08\/portland-city-council-approves-1-4-million-for-unarmed-patrols-to-combat-gun-violence\/\">hire additional park rangers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>These unarmed park rangers will patrol the city\u2019s parks 24-hours a day through the end of the year. According to critics, the same programs the council wants to create already exist within the Police Bureau and the additional rangers won\u2019t deter criminals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know the level of respect they won\u2019t get,\u201d Randy Philbrick of Portland for Positive Impact stated. \u201cAs we\u2019ve already seen this week, with a couple park rangers getting a taser pulled on them.
