The idea that a brace makes a pistol \u201cmore lethal\u201d is also not accurate because the brace does not alter the rate of fire of the pistol and does not alter the velocity of the projectile that is fired from the weapon.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"9.3372093023256\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Joe Biden just claimed adding a &#8220;stabilizing brace&#8221; to an AR-pistol makes it &#8220;more lethal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This is literally not true and one of the most insane things I&#8217;ve ever heard on the topic of guns. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yw8RjBTNbv\">pic.twitter.com\/yw8RjBTNbv<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Caleb Hull (@CalebJHull) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CalebJHull\/status\/1380192388791033871?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 8, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Biden also again called for banning semi-automatic long guns\u2014which essentially operate the same way that pistols do by firing one shot each time the trigger is pulled\u2014and falsely suggested that a previous ban on those weapons that was enacted under the Clinton administration saved lives.<\/p>\n<p>ProPublica, a left-wing journalism organization, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/fact-checking-feinstein-on-the-assault-weapons-ban\">reported<\/a> that a study of the 1994 ban found \u201cno evidence that it had reduced overall gun crime or made shootings less lethal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden also repeatedly got the name of the ATF wrong, calling it the \u201cAFT.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.3287671232877\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Joe Biden just said &#8220;AFT&#8221; instead of ATF twice.<\/p>\n<p>What a total disaster this is. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/gWc7CSv7nz\">pic.twitter.com\/gWc7CSv7nz<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Caleb Hull (@CalebJHull) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CalebJHull\/status\/1380193214863450112?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 8, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>National Review senior writer David Harsanyi, who is a Second Amendment expert, highlighted some of the additional false claims that Biden made during his press conference.<\/p>\n<p>Harsanyi disputed Biden\u2019s statement that \u201cFrom the beginning, you couldn\u2019t own any weapon you wanted to own.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harsanyi <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/joe-bidens-amazing-second-amendment-whopper\/\">wrote<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"10.910810810811\">\n<p><em>I can\u2019t even begin to imagine what rickety basis there is for making such a claim. I mean, I wrote&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/First-Freedom-Through-Americas-Enduring\/dp\/1501174002\/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp;qid=1533566570&amp;sr=1-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a book<\/a>&nbsp;on the history of American guns, and never once did I run across any law that restricted Americans from owning any weapons they desired (unless we\u2019re talking about blacks or Indians; because most gun restrictions in U.S. history have been employed to unarm the people who need weapons most). The idea of the&nbsp;federal&nbsp;government&nbsp;conducting any kind domestic \u201cgun policy\u201d whatsoever would have been a completely alien concept to anyone before the 1930s. Even then, no specific types of guns were banned from use.
