Shapiro accused the media on Wednesday of \u201cignoring the prosecution\u2019s difficulties\u201d and giving a one-sided view of the trial to the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you watch the actual Chauvin trial and then watch the media coverage of the Chauvin trial, the gap is stunning. The media are paving the way for riots by ignoring the prosecution\u2019s difficulties \u2013 and his acquittal is not a remote possibility based on those difficulties,\u201d Shapiro <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/benshapiro\/status\/1379792286863745030\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWaPo headline: \u2018Trial to resume after training officer says an unauthorized neck restraint was used on George Floyd.\u2019 This ignores the actual takeaway from the use-of-force expert\u2019s testimony,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe use-of-force officer admitted that Chauvin\u2019s procedure (use of body weight and pressure) was a LESSER use of force than adopted in the past, that it wasn\u2019t a chokehold, that use of force standards change based on drug use or physical stature of a suspect, that he had personally restrained suspects until EMS arrived, that some suspects quickly regain consciousness and thus sometimes suppression is necessary despite appearances,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Shapiro was referencing testimony by Los Angeles Police Sgt. Jody Stiger, a paid witness of the state, whose testimony undercut the prosecution\u2019s case on several points during cross-examination, according to Law of Self Defense attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/legalinsurrection.com\/2021\/04\/chauvin-trial-day-8-wrap-up-i-ate-too-many-drugs-video-may-be-game-changer\/\">Andrew Branca<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors are attempting to make the case that Chauvin and three other officers killed Floyd through excessive use of force, while the defense alleges that Floyd\u2019s drug use and heart problems played crucial roles in Floyd\u2019s fate.<\/p>\n<p>The defense is attempting to establish that Chauvin\u2019s actions, restraining Floyd with a knee on his upper body for nearly nine minutes, would not have resulted in Floyd\u2019s death without complications from those existing drug and heart problems. Prosecutors have admitted that Floyd had a history of substance abuse, but are arguing that Floyd\u2019s past drug use would have built up his immunity enough so the drugs in his system at the time of his arrest would not have had a major effect on him.<\/p>\n<p>According to earlier testimony, under oath, from Floyd\u2019s girlfriend, Floyd had a history of drug abuse and addiction and was traveling with a man he had previously purchased drugs from at the time of his arrest. As&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/george-floyds-girlfriend-floyd-hospitalized-for-overdose-months-earlier-drug-dealer-with-him-during-arrest\">The Daily Wire<\/a>&nbsp;reported:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"18.674285714286\">\n<p><em>Later in the trial, Ross&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Breaking911\/status\/1377714691917631489\">confirmed<\/a>&nbsp;that Floyd was with Morries Hall, who had sold both her and Floyd drugs, at the time of Floyd\u2019s arrest in May.
