On Tuesday, the dean&nbsp;of Brown University\u2019s School of Public Health, Dr. Ashish Jha, said the CDC should have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/prevent-getting-sick\/disinfecting-your-home.html\">updated<\/a> its \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/dailyztechnology.com\/the-cdc-ought-to-have-up-to-date-its-surface-cleaning-pointers-a-lot-sooner-dr-ashish-jha-says\/\">Cleaning Household Surfaces<\/a>\u201d guidelines long before this week.<\/p>\n<p>This came after the CDC announced on Monday that soap and water were adequate to keep the virus from spreading on surfaces.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CDCgov?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CDCgov<\/a>, the risk of getting <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a> by touching a contaminated surface is considered low. Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CDCgov?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CDCgov<\/a>, State, and local guidelines, including wearing masks, good ventilation, social distancing, hand washing, and cleaning surfaces. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XHrvXNCHwW\">https:\/\/t.co\/XHrvXNCHwW<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/N9jh8T3iEu\">pic.twitter.com\/N9jh8T3iEu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 U.S. EPA (@EPA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EPA\/status\/1379116679561629699?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 5, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cBasic hand hygiene is really important,\u201d Dr. Asish Jha said during an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/04\/06\/the-cdc-should-have-updated-its-surface-cleaning-guidelines-much-sooner-dr-ashish-jha-says.html\">interview<\/a> with CNBC. \u201cA little wipe down is fine, but let\u2019s not obsess. Let\u2019s not wipe down groceries. I stopped recommending people do it. I don\u2019t understand what took CDC so long to really be clear about this. This virus is spread through the air, it is not spread through surfaces largely.
