According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/04\/07\/eu-medicines-regulators-finds-possible-link-between-astrazeneca-covid-vaccine-and-blood-clots.html\">reports<\/a> Wednesday, the European Medicines Agency said it found the vaccine carries the risk of causing \u201cunusual blood clots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The agency reported 18 deaths in its review of 84 clotting cases reported in the EU out of around 25 million people who have been vaccinated. Despite the risk, the agency said the benefits of the vaccine outweighs the side effects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur safety committee, the Pharmacovigilance and Risk Assessment Committee of the European Medicines Agency, has confirmed that the benefits of the AstraZeneca vaccine in preventing COVID-19 overall outweigh the risks of side effects,\u201d stated Emer Cooke, the executive director of the agency.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In the fight against <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a>, it is imperative to develop vaccines that will work in a real-world setting.
