Ron DeSantis appears to be growing as newly released emails show that the show did not include remarks that DeSantis\u2019 office sent them two days before the show aired.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c60 Minutes\u201d was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/publix-democrat-state-official-blast-absolutely-false-and-offensive-cbs-60-minutes-smear-of-desantis\">slammed<\/a> by Publix, the grocery store chain at the center of their story, who said in a statement that the segment was \u201cabsolutely false and offensive.\u201d Former Florida state Rep. Jared Moskowitz, a Democrat, publicly called out \u201c60 Minutes\u201d over the segment, saying that DeSantis\u2019 office did not push for selecting Publix to distribute the vaccines. Palm Beach County Democrat Mayor Dave Kerner also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/desantis-hits-cbs-after-they-claim-deceptive-editing-was-for-clarity-heres-what-they-didnt-tell-you\">slammed<\/a> \u201c60 Minutes,\u201d saying that their reporting \u201cwas not just based on bad information \u2013 it was intentionally false.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c60 Minutes\u201d doubled down on their segment in a statement last night, writing:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"14\">\n<p><em>When Florida state data revealed people of color were vaccinated at a much lower rate than their wealthier neighbors, 60 MINUTES reported the facts surrounding the vaccine\u2019s rollout, which is controlled by the governor.&nbsp; We requested and conducted interviews with dozens of sources and authorities involved. We requested an interview with Gov. Ron DeSantis, he declined; We spoke to State Emergency Management Director Jared Moskowitz twice, but he declined to be interviewed on camera for our story until well after our deadline. The idea we ignored their perspective is untrue. Counter to his statement yesterday, we also spoke on the record with Palm Beach County Mayor David Kerner. For over 50 years, the facts reported by 60 MINUTES have often stirred debate and prompted strong reactions. Our story Sunday night speaks for itself.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, Town Hall Editor Guy Benson <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/guypbenson\/status\/1379525620611301376\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">noted<\/a>, CBS\u2019s statement gave a \u201cfake refutation,\u201d claiming that they spoke to Kerner. Kerner \u201cdidn\u2019t claim he didn\u2019t speak with them,\u201d Benson wrote.&nbsp;He alleged they *didn\u2019t include the important truths he told them* because doing so would \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/democrat-mayor-on-cbs-smearing-ron-desantis-i-explained-everything-to-them-in-45-minute-interview\">kneecap their narrative<\/a>.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Emails obtained by Fox News reporter Joseph A. Wulfsohn show that DeSantis\u2019 office did respond to questions from the show two days before it aired.<\/p>\n<p>Fox News reported:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"11\">\n<p><em>On March 31, the Wednesday before airing, \u201c60 Minutes\u201d associate producer Emily Gordon sent a list of questions to DeSantis communications staffer Meredith Beatrice with a response deadline set for the following day at 5 p.m. The questions included: \u201cHow did the state determine that seniors were at greater risk\u201d to the coronavirus \u201cthan other groups,\u201d a response to claims from \u201csources\u201d who say the vaccine rollout \u201cfavored wealthier communities\u201d while \u201cAfrican American and Hispanic residents\u201d were \u201cnot getting vaccinated as quickly\u201d as White people.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>DeSantis\u2019 office responded that he would need more time to answer the questions and CBS never replied, the report says. A producer for the show reached out to DeSantis\u2019 office the next day and said to send them his answers \u201cwhen you are able,\u201d telling them that the segment would air Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis\u2019 office sent their answers to the show on Friday, two days before the show aired. The show confirmed they received the answers, which came two days after their \u201cdeadline,\u201d which DeSantis\u2019 office said was \u201carbitrary\u201d and a problem they have \u201cnever encountered\u201d before. The show did not include DeSantis\u2019 responses.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis\u2019 office urged the show to interview Moskowitz and Kerner, saying that it was \u201cimportant\u201d that they did so. CBS responded that the deadline had passed for them, claiming \u201cthe Covid pandemic makes our interview protocol much more complicated and time-consuming due to new distancing and testing requirements for correspondents and camera crews.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, as Fox News noted, that \u201cstandard appeared not to apply to Florida State Rep. Omari Hardy, a DeSantis critic who \u201960 Minutes\u2019 correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi interviewed remotely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The show said that they had spoken to Moskowitz several times and that the information that he provided to them would be included in the segment. Moskowitz blasted that claim from CBS, telling Fox News that the information that he provided was not included in the segment.<\/p>\n<p>Moskowitz slammed CBS\u2019s statement in a tweet posted yesterday, saying that he warned them that the segment was \u201cbulls**t\u201d and that he \u201cwalked them through the whole process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that I didn\u2019t sit down on \u201ccamera\u201d because I am responding to a 100 year emergency doesn\u2019t change the truth,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"10.304\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I did speak with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/60Minutes?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@60Minutes<\/a>.
