(Photo by JOEL SAGET\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 6:39 PM PT \u2013 Tuesday, April 6, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>Governors across the country are joining the GOP\u2019s call to bar vaccination passports from becoming a requirement.<\/p>\n<p>Vaccine passports ultimately mandate travelers to show proof they have been vaccinated for COVID-19 in order to fly on an airplane. However, Republicans are shedding light on the massive overreach this could inflict, and are raising concerns over its potential to tread on personal freedoms.<\/p>\n<p>Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) recently signed an order prohibiting state agencies from requesting a person\u2019s vaccination status. Gonzalez-Pool\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cGovernment should not require any Texan to show proof of vaccination and reveal private health information just to go about their daily lives,\u201d Abbott stated. \u201cThat is why I issued an executive order that prohibits government-mandated vaccine passports in Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This came after Florida Gov. I think it\u2019s something that people have certain freedoms and individual freedoms to make decisions for themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The governors of Missouri and Tennessee are also backing the movement.<\/p>\n<p>Taking to Twitter this week, Gov. Mike Parson (R-Mo.) said \u201cI do not support a vaccine passport and have no intention of implementing one in the state of Missouri.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I do NOT support a vaccine passport and have no intention of implementing one in the State of Missouri.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Governor Mike Parson (@GovParsonMO) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovParsonMO\/status\/1379077579030683650?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 5, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Gov. Bill Lee (R-Tenn.) said he\u2019s even supporting legislation blocking any government-mandated vaccine passports, in an effort to ensure that getting vaccinated remains a personal choice.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I am supporting legislation to prohibit any government-mandated vaccine passports to protect the privacy of Tennesseans&#8217; health information and ensure this vaccine remains a voluntary, personal decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Gov.
