Let\u2019s debunk these despicable and irresponsible falsehoods.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Georgia voters can\u2019t get water<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>Perhaps the most absurd claim pushed by the Left is that Georgia is actively preventing voters from accessing water while waiting in line to vote.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff, a Democrat, tweeted on March 25 that \u201cTonight Georgia\u2019s legislature passed a bill brazenly intended to make it harder for Georgians to vote,\u201d adding that \u201cAmong its outrageous provisions: it criminalizes *giving water to voters who are waiting in line.*\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"12.414790996785\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Tonight Georgia\u2019s legislature passed a bill brazenly intended to make it harder for Georgians to vote.<\/p>\n<p>Among its outrageous provisions: it criminalizes *giving water to voters who are waiting in line.*<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s no wonder Gov. Kemp hid behind closed doors while he signed it.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jon Ossoff (@ossoff) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ossoff\/status\/1375258814505742337?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 26, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>This false talking point was pushed by many Democrats, including President Joe Biden.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt\u2019s an atrocity. The idea, you want any indication, it has nothing to do with fairness, nothing to do with decency. They pass a law saying you can\u2019t provide water for people standing in line, while they\u2019re waiting to vote.&nbsp; You don\u2019t need anything else to know that this is nothing but punitive, designed to keep people from voting. You can\u2019t provide water for people about to vote? Give me a break,\u201d Biden <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/joe-biden-media-claim-georgia-law-prevents-giving-water-to-voters-in-line-thats-not-true\"><span>claimed<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Here is what the bill actually refers to:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"15\">\n<p><em><span>\u201cNo person shall solicit votes [or] distribute or display any campaign material, nor shall any person give, offer to give, or participate in the giving of any money or gifts, including, but not limited to, food and drink, to [a voter] \u2026 This Code section shall not be construed to prohibit a poll officer\u2026from making available self-service water from an unattended receptacle to [a voter] waiting in line to vote.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>As National Review\u2019s Dan McLaughlin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2021\/03\/joe-biden-botches-the-georgia-voting-law\/\">noted<\/a>, \u201cThe president\u2019s claim that \u2018You can\u2019t provide water for people about to vote\u2019 is just false. What you cannot do under the new Georgia law is deploy people in National Rifle Association t-shirts and MAGA hats to hand out free Koch-brothers-financed, Federalist Society\u2013branded pizza to voters.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIn other words, this entire controversy is not about people dropping dead of hunger and thirst on long voting lines at all. It\u2019s about electioneering around the polling place by people looking to advertise that they represent a cause, and who try to influence voters by giving them free stuff. Across the country today, we already have lots of laws against this sort of thing. There is nothing wrong with Georgia trying to limit it,\u201d McLaughlin continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Voter ID is racist<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>The second argument being pushed \u2014 both implicitly and explicitly \u2014 by the Left is that requiring voter identification is racist.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/v\"><span>ACLU<\/span><\/a><span>, for example, \u201cVoter ID laws deprive many voters of their right to vote, reduce participation, and stand in direct opposition to our country\u2019s trend of including more Americans in the democratic process. Many Americans do not have one of the forms of identification states acceptable [sic] for voting. These voters are disproportionately low-income, racial and ethnic minorities, the elderly, and people with disabilities.&nbsp; Such voters more frequently have difficulty obtaining ID, because they cannot afford or cannot obtain the underlying documents that are a prerequisite to obtaining government-issued photo ID card.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Not only is this argument based entirely upon a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/yet-again-the-democrats-fall-back-on-their-racist-soft-bigotry-of-low-expectations\"><span>soft bigotry of low expectations<\/span><\/a><span> \u2014 the view that black people are somehow incapable of obtaining a form of identification \u2014 it also ignores that identification is required to vote in numerous other states, including Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas,&nbsp; Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, North Dakota, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Finally, according to a recent Rasmussen Reports <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/lifestyle\/general_lifestyle\/march_2021\/75_support_voter_id_laws\"><span>survey<\/span><\/a><span>, \u201c<\/span><span>75% of likely U.S. voters believe photo identification should be required to vote,\u201d including 60% of Democrats and 69% of black voters. Are they racist too?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Just like \u201cJim Crow\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>The claim that Georgia\u2019s election integrity laws are synonymous with Jim Crow was immediately pushed by multiple Democrats.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) \u2014 while promoting the additional conspiracy theory that Stacey Abrams won Georgia\u2019s 2018 gubernatorial race, despite losing by more than 50,000 votes \u2014 claimed that this \u201cdespicable voter suppression bill\u201d will \u201ctake Georgia back to Jim Crow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Joy Reid, ever the voice of sanity and reason, also described the bill as \u201cGeorgia Jim Crow law\u201d aimed at \u201csuppressing Democratic votes.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Vice President Kamala Harris\u2019 niece also weighed in, calling the bill \u201cThe new Jim Crow, except that it\u2019s actually the old Jim Crow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.3529411764706\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The new Jim Crow, except that it\u2019s actually the old Jim Crow. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/y8N6PhPgzd\">pic.twitter.com\/y8N6PhPgzd<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Meena Harris (@meenaharris) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/meenaharris\/status\/1375264012959539206?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 26, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Biden, in his first press conference as President, parroted this narrative, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.faithwire.com\/2021\/03\/25\/gop-makes-jim-crow-look-like-jim-eagle-bidens-first-press-conference-draws-sharp-reaction\/\"><span>saying<\/span><\/a><span> Georgia\u2019s new voter ID law \u201cmakes Jim Crow look like Jim Eagle.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As the Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/no-requiring-id-to-vote-is-not-like-jim-crow\">reported<\/a> in late March, \u201cGiven that it was the Democrats who imposed the <\/span><i><span>actual<\/span><\/i><span> Jim Crow laws upon black Americans throughout the Southern United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, you would think that they would have some understanding of what these rules involved.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Jim Crow laws mandated <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.history.com\/topics\/early-20th-century-us\/jim-crow-laws\"><span>complete racial segregation<\/span><\/a><span>, and \u201cwere meant to marginalize African Americans by denying them the right to vote, hold jobs, get an education or other opportunities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>To compare Jim Crow laws to Georgia\u2019s election integrity bill \u2014 which actually expands voting rights in several ways \u2014 is arguably the biggest falsehood of all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>It\u2019s certainly the most despicable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i>Ian Haworth is an Editor and Writer for The Daily Wire.
