(NASA\/JPL-Caltech via AP)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 8:08 AM PT \u2013 Sunday, April 4, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>NASA is preparing its space helicopter \u201cIngenuity\u201d for the agency\u2019s first powered flight of an aircraft on another planet.<\/p>\n<p>Scientists on Friday said the Mars helicopter is likely to takeoff on or about April 11, adding it needs to charge up to 100 percent first. Ingenuity made its way over to the Red Planet as a part of the Perseverance program back in February.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Swing low, sweet helicopter\u2026<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NASAPersevere?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@NASAPersevere<\/a> is slowly and carefully deploying the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/MarsHelicopter?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#MarsHelicopter<\/a>, Ingenuity. The tech demo is currently unfolding from its stowed position and readying to safely touch down on the Martian surface.
