(Photo by Joe Raedle\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 4:30 PM PT \u2013 Friday, April 2, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>GOP Congressman Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) slammed the Democrats\u2019 motives for seeking stricter gun control laws.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It sickens me when I see my fellow Republicans buckle on gun control. <\/p>\n<p>Any support of ANY legislation that restricts the right to keep and bear arms is an infringement.<\/p>\n<p>We have to stand for the rights of the people.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Madison Cawthorn (@CawthornforNC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CawthornforNC\/status\/1375119344787726343?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 25, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThere is no kind of legislation that can restrict people from obtaining a firearm that I believe is constitutional,\u201d Cawthorn stated. \u201cI don\u2019t think there is much of a middle ground that these kinds of woke liberals would be allowed to take.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The North Carolina lawmaker recently made these remarks to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbs17.com\/news\/north-carolina-news\/nc-lawmakers-split-over-bills-aimed-at-further-regulating-gun-sales\/\">local news affiliate<\/a>, adding that addressing mental illness should be a higher priority than enacting firearm legislation. He then referenced the Colorado grocery store shooter and tied it directly to Joe Biden\u2019s airstrikes in Syria, which he believes radicalized the alleged boulder gunman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause they just started dropping bombs on Syria last month even though we had been reaching historic peace deals in the Middle East,\u201d Cawthorn noted. \u201cAnd now this Syrian immigrant is shooting up people in Colorado.
