He seemed so sad. He didn\u2019t have the same kind of bounce that he had.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following the death of Floyd, numerous political pundits emotionally noted that Floyd called out for his mother. Ross\u2019 testimony adds a new wrinkle, as he might have been calling out for Ross, or Ross and his late mother.<\/p>\n<p>Ross was sharing testimony during the trial of&nbsp;Minneapolis Police Officer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/the-charges-facing-derek-chauvin-and-what-it-will-take-to-convict-him\">Derek Chauvin<\/a>&nbsp;for&nbsp;second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter in relation to Floyd\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p>Chauvin can be found guilty of all, some, or none of the charges, since they are all separate.<\/p>\n<p>The former officer, who has no criminal history, is likely looking at \u201cserving about 12 1\/2 years whether he is convicted of second or third-degree murder,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/derek-chauvin-trial-murder-charge-explained-5e7c935f560219caee61fcc0bef0a23d\">according<\/a> to The Associated Press. The manslaughter charge, which has the lowest burden of proof, \u201cmeans a maximum of just 10 years behind bars if convicted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After officers were notified that Floyd allegedly gave counterfeit money at a convenience store, Chauvin and three other officers arrested and detained Floyd. Viral video shows that&nbsp;Chauvin kneeled on Floyd\u2019s neck for nearly nine minutes while detaining Floyd.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChauvin\u2019s attorneys argue that Floyd\u2019s drug use was a crucial factor in his death. The Hennepin County <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/medical-examiner-concluded-george-floyd-likely-died-of-fentanyl-overdose-court-docs-reveal\">medical examiner<\/a> reported after Floyd\u2019s autopsy that the deceased had potentially lethal levels of drugs in his system,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/george-floyds-girlfriend-floyd-hospitalized-for-overdose-months-earlier-drug-dealer-with-him-during-arrest\">The Daily Wire<\/a> noted Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>While on the stand, Ross also detailed her and Floyd\u2019s struggles with addiction. \u201cBoth Floyd and I, our story is a classic story is of how we both get addicted to opioids,\u201d she said, according to the Minneapolis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.startribune.com\/derek-chauvin-s-supervisor-testifies-he-wasn-t-told-immediately-of-knee-on-george-floyd-s-neck-or-fo\/600040991\/\">Star-Tribune<\/a>. \u201cWe got addicted and tried really hard to break that addiction many times.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/george-floyds-girlfriend-floyd-hospitalized-for-overdose-months-earlier-drug-dealer-with-him-during-arrest\">The Daily Wire<\/a>, Ross also detailed an incident in March where she rushed Floyd to the hospital after he complained of stomach pains: \u201cShe learned later that Floyd had overdosed that night, and that was why he needed to be hospitalized. She did not know on what Floyd had overdosed.
