Because I think the last thing the economy needs right now is a big, whopping tax increase,\u201d remarked McConnell.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cYou\u2019re either alarmed about the level of national debt and the future impact of that on our children and our grandchildren or you aren\u2019t,\u201d he said. \u201cMy view of infrastructure is we ought to build that which we can afford, and not either whack the economy with major tax increases or run up the national debt even more.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usdebtclock.org\/\"><span>US National Debt Clock<\/span><\/a><span>, the national debt is more than $28 trillion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>McConnell\u2019s comments come less than 24 hours after Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-unveils-massive-infrastructure-plan-calls-it-once-in-a-generation-investment\">outlined his infrastructure plan<\/a> \u2014 his second major legislative initiative \u2014 and declared that it would create millions of \u201cgood-paying jobs\u201d and grow the economy. Although Biden promised to work with Republicans, his last trillion-dollar plan, notably, passed with no support from Republican lawmakers. One Democrat did, however, defect from it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Biden\u2019s infrastructure plan would allocate $621 billion for <\/span><span>transportation-related infrastructure, $300 billion for drinking water-related infrastructure, broadband and electric grids, $300 billion for affordable housing and upgrading schools, and $580 billion for domestic manufacturing, job training, research and development. Another $400 billion would go to caring for elderly or disabled Americans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI\u2019m proposing a plan for the nation that rewards work, not just rewards wealth. It builds a fair economy that gives everybody a chance to succeed, and it\u2019s going to create the strongest, most resilient, innovative economy in the world,\u201d said the president. \u201cIt\u2019s not a plan that tinkers around the edges; it\u2019s a-once-in-a-generation investment in America, unlike anything we\u2019ve seen or done since we built the interstate highway system and the space race decades ago. In fact, it\u2019s the largest American jobs investment since World War II.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt will create millions of jobs \u2014 good-paying jobs \u2014 will grow the economy, make us more competitive around the world, promote our national security interests, and put us in the position to win the global competition with China in the upcoming years,\u201d said Biden.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt\u2019s big, yes. It\u2019s bold, yes. And we can get it done,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Biden said that another plan, focusing on American families, would be released in the coming weeks, and suggested that both plans together constitute his economic vision for the United States.
