Please disregard this post.\u201d Soon after, their apology tweet was also quickly deleted, prompting further questions from already confused Twitter users.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe bizarre message drew speculation that it was the military\u2019s inadvertent release of the \u2018nuclear launch codes,\u2019 jokes that a cat was allowed on the keyboard and suggestions that the message was meant for extraterrestrial viewers,\u201d the Hill added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>After waves of potential theories sparked online, the Daily Dot solved the mystery, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailydot.com\/debug\/gibberish-tweet-u-s-strategic-command-child\/\"><span>reporting<\/span><\/a><span> that a small child was responsible for the viral \u201c;l;;gmlxzssaw\u201d message which sent Twitter into a conspiratorial tailspin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The outlet filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with Stratcom, and \u201clearned that a small child had produced the tweet.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cFiled a FOIA request with U.S. Strategic Command to see if I could learn anything about their gibberish tweet yesterday,\u201d wrote Mikael Thalen of the Daily Dot. \u201cTurns out their Twitter manager left his computer unattended, resulting in his \u2018very young child\u2019 commandeering the keyboard.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"11.380062305296\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Filed a FOIA request with U.S. Strategic Command to see if I could learn anything about their gibberish tweet yesterday. <\/p>\n<p>Turns out their Twitter manager left his computer unattended, resulting in his &#8220;very young child&#8221; commandeering the keyboard. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/KR07PCyCUM\">pic.twitter.com\/KR07PCyCUM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mikael Thalen (@MikaelThalen) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MikaelThalen\/status\/1376653334396903428?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 29, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>\u201cShoutout to the FOIA officer at USSTRATCOM who provided this response just 4 hours and 42 minutes after I filed,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c<\/span><span>USSTRATCOM\u2019s FOIA officer stated that the tweet had been made when the agency\u2019s Twitter manager momentarily left his computer unattended,\u201d the Daily Dot report continued.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe Command\u2019s Twitter manager, while in a telework status, momentarily left the Command\u2019s Twitter account open and unattended,\u201d the response states. \u201cHis very young child took advantage of the situation and started playing with the keys and unfortunately, and unknowingly, posted the tweet.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cUSSTRATCOM further stressed that the tweet was not the result of a hacking incident,\u201d the Daily Dot added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAbsolutely nothing nefarious occurred, i.e., no hacking of our Twitter account,\u201d the response noted. \u201cThe post was discovered and notice to delete it occurred telephonically.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The original tweet of \u201c;l;;gmlxzssaw\u201d also received <\/span><span>\u201csome sympathy messages, including from Canada\u2019s military, which tweeted: \u2018These things happen. This might even happen to you one day. It\u2019s okay, folks.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Interestingly enough, this wasn\u2019t the first time that Stratcom\u2019s Twitter feed has stirred controversy. \u201cStratcom, which is in charge of the military\u2019s nuclear forces and deterring missile attacks, in 2018 was criticized for a New Year\u2019s Eve tweet joking about dropping bombs,\u201d the Hill report added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c#TimesSquare tradition rings in the #NewYear by dropping the big ball\u2026if ever needed, we are #ready to drop something much, much bigger,\u201d Stratcom tweeted.
