Several high-profile \u201ccancellations\u201d have brought the topic up as a main conversation in America, whether it is through the banning of books, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/six-dr-seuss-books-to-stop-being-printed-day-after-biden-left-out-author-from-read-across-america-day\">such as the decision of Dr. Seuss Enterprises to stop publishing several of Dr. Seuss children\u2019s books <\/a>earlier this month or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/scholastic-pulls-captain-underpants-spinoff-author-apologizes-over-passive-racism-harmful-to-asian-americans\">most recent act of Scholastic to pull the \u201cCaptain Underpants\u201d<\/a> spinoff due to its alleged \u201cpassive racism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Members of the media have also recently suffered cancellations and firings over unpopular statements. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/piers-morgan-rips-harry-and-meghan-woke-brigades-cancel-culture-war-in-moment-by-moment-account-of-firing\">The Daily Wire reported<\/a> on the firing of former television show host Piers Morgan after he said that he did not believe many of the accusations against the Royal Family that Meghan Markle made during her interview with Oprah Winfrey. Morgan refused to say that he was sorry for the things that he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd even if I did apologize, that wouldn\u2019t be the end of it. The woke brigade would keep coming for me, demanding I apologize for everything else they find offensive \u2013 which of course, is absolutely everything,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Morgan also said that he doesn\u2019t have any hard feelings against the ITV network. \u201cI don\u2019t have any problem with ITV, my problem is with the increasingly insidious woke cancel culture that\u2019s now infesting all companies like ITV,\u201d Morgan said. \u201cIf allowed to continue unchecked, it will make it virtually impossible for anyone with an opinionated personality to survive in any workplace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mark Penn, the director of the Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey released by The Hill, said, \u201cIt is a chilling finding that most people in the country now are afraid they would be fired if they expressed their real views on social media \u2026 The public generally gives negative ratings to social media companies and sees the movement as more about censorship rather than trying to correct wrongs. It is growing as a national issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey included 1,945 registered voters and was done from March 24 to 25. It is a joint effort of the Center for American Political Studies at Harvard University and The Harris Poll.
