The vaccine passports are expected to face \u201csignificant hurdles\u201d surrounding data privacy and making sure that the passports cannot be counterfeited.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the most significant hurdles facing federal officials: the sheer number of passport initiatives underway, with the Biden administration this month identifying at least 17,\u201d the Post added. \u201cThose initiatives \u2014 such as a World Health Organization-led global effort and a digital pass devised by IBM that is being tested in New York state \u2014 are rapidly moving forward, even as the White House deliberates about how best to track the shots and avoid the perception of a government mandate to be vaccinated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An official told the Post that developers are working on ways to include how to use the apps to \u201cadjust for the spread of variants,\u201d and monitoring \u201chow booster shots would be tracked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chinese President Xi Jinping has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/chinese-president-xi-jinping-pushes-for-global-tracking-system-using-qr-codes\">pushing<\/a> for months for a global tracking system using QR codes to monitor people who have been exposed to the coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Electronic Frontier Foundation, a digital rights group, argues that using smartphone-based verification to access public places would create a two-tiered system that bars people who can\u2019t work, shop or attend school because they don\u2019t have a cell phone or access to testing,\u201d Politico reported. \u201cThere also are privacy considerations. Requiring people to store test and vaccination results in digital format could expose them to the kind of data breaches that have proliferated during the pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Politico\u2019s report also noted that several legislatures have introduced bills to \u201cprevent discrimination for people with religious objections or health conditions that might prevent them from getting immunized.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>New York is unveiling the nation\u2019s first vaccine passport, dubbed the \u201cExcelsior Pass,\u201d which is a smartphone app that will allow people to either print out a passport or store it in their phones.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach Pass will have a secure QR code, which participating businesses and venues can scan using a companion app to verify proof of COVID-19 negative test results or proof of vaccination,\u201d a news release <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/03\/26\/nations-first-covid-vaccine-passport-coming-to-new-york\/?utm_medium=SocialFlow&amp;utm_campaign=SocialFlow&amp;utm_source=NYPTwitter\">said<\/a>. \u201cAn individual\u2019s data is kept secure and confidential at all times.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
