Republicans will now be looking to both the 2022 midterms \u2014 when the GOP will aim to retake the House of Representatives \u2014 and their next opportunity to regain control of the executive branch \u2014 the 2024 presidential election.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are the candidates likely to compete to become the Republican nominee to face the Democrats\u2019 candidate in 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Donald Trump<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Mick Mulvaney, former acting White House Chief of Staff, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">President Trump will \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/trump-2024-mick-mulvaney\">likely<\/a>\u201d run again in 2024, saying that \u201che doesn\u2019t like losing,\u201d and that \u201cthere\u2019s actually a non-zero chance that Donald Trump runs again in 2028 and Joe Biden does not \u2026 simply because of his age.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The prospect of Trump running again was also suggested by White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, and the Trump campaign even polled supporters in order to gauge enthusiasm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/actionrush.com\/who-will-be-the-2024-republican-presidential-nominee\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">oddsmakers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, should he run, Trump would be the favorite to win the Republican nomination at +160 odds, which would make him the oldest candidate in the history of U.S. presidential elections at the age of 78.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_170400\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 810px;\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-170400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Trump-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"US president Donald Trump holds a rally to support Republican Senate candidates at Valdosta Regional Airport in Valdosta, Georgia on December 5, 2020. - President Donald Trump ventures out of Washington on Saturday for his first political appearance since his election defeat to Joe Biden, campaigning in Georgia where two run-off races will decide the fate of the US Senate.\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-170400\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-170400\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Andrew Caballero-Reynolds\/AFP via Getty Images<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>Nikki Haley<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, is a favorite among many conservatives to run in 2024. Earlier this year, Haley topped a Washington Post <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2020\/03\/27\/10-women-most-likely-be-first-female-president\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">poll<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of \u201cwomen most likely to be the first female president,\u201d beating Kamala Harris (before, of course, Harris was announced as Biden\u2019s running mate).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oddsmakers give Haley +250 odds to win the Republican nomination. Haley also \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/uk.reuters.com\/article\/us-usa-election-convention-haley\/haley-fuels-2024-presidential-speculation-with-republican-convention-speech-idUSKBN25L0C2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fueled<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 2024 presidential speculation\u201d when she spoke at the Republican National Convention in August, saying that, \u201cIn much of the Democratic Party, it\u2019s now fashionable to say that America is racist. That is a lie. In many ways, Pence\u2019s campaign for 2024 has already begun, with Pence playing a key part in the 2020 reelection campaign for Trump. Pence\u2019s experience as a Congressman, governor, and now Vice President certainly provides a strong resume, and his 2024 credentials could be further bolstered by Trump\u2019s loyal base of supporters \u2014 unless, of course, Trump and Pence go head-to-head in the primaries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two major challenges face Pence, and both are in the form of predictable mischaracterizations by the Left. The first will be overcoming anti-religious bigotry, and the second will be rejecting the Left\u2019s narrative that COVID-19 was solely the result of the Trump administration\u2019s ineptitude.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If Pence\u2019s sterling performance during the Vice Presidential debates with Harris are anything to go by, however, he has a good chance of shrugging off these challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_71325\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 810px;\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-71325\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/GettyImages-1193389126-1024x784.jpg\" alt=\"U.S. Vice President Mike Pence attends a Hanukkah Reception in the East Room of the White House on December 11, 2019 in Washington, DC.\" width=\"800\" height=\"613\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-71325\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-71325\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Mark Wilson\/Getty Images<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>Ted Cruz<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is also viewed by many as likely to run for the Republican nomination in 2024, having come in second to Trump in 2016, winning 11 contests to Trump\u2019s 41. While that primary was politically turbulent \u2014 to say the least \u2014 Cruz has played a consistent and prominent role in the Republican party\u2019s work since that election. The public relationship between the Texas Senator and the president also appears to have healed, with Trump <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2018\/oct\/22\/donald-trump-ted-cruz-rally-houston-midterms-obama-vegas\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">referring<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to Cruz as \u201cbeautiful Ted,\u201d in 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not only that, Cruz has become a significant figure in the political culture of conservatism. Perhaps most notably, he partnered with The Daily Wire\u2019s Michael Knowles on the hugely successful podcast, \u201cVerdict with Ted Cruz,\u201d which at one time became the number one podcast on iTunes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Such notoriety and popularity on a cultural level may prove key to a potential Cruz run in 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_98637\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 810px;\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-98637\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Ted-Cruz.jpg\" alt=\"Ted Cruz\" width=\"800\" height=\"432\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-98637\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-98637\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Verdict with Ted Cruz<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>Honorable Mentions<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many in Trump\u2019s base have been calling for the next generation of Trump family members to take the next step, and Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr. have both been suggested as potential candidates for the Republican nomination in 2024. However, it is more likely that either of these Trump family members will consider an intermediary step before emulating their father with a presidential bid. For example, there is some <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2020\/dec\/13\/ivanka-trump-speculation-potential-run-us-senate-florida\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">speculation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that Ivanka Trump is planning to launch the next step of her political career in Florida, and \u201cmay be considering a run for Senate.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among Republican politicians, there are several notable figures who may consider entering the race. Sen. Tim Scott, Sen. Tom Cotton, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have gained significant support during the past few years. It will also be interesting to see whether former Governor of Ohio John Kasich will attempt to re-enter the Republican field after flirting with the Left during Trump\u2019s term in office \u2014 even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/2020\/8\/17\/21373196\/john-kasich-dnc-speech-transcript\">speaking<\/a> at the Democratic National Convention. Then, of course, there is Rep. Dan Crenshaw, who already has a cult following among conservatives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among cultural figures, there are many who could attempt to mimic Trump\u2019s successful jump into the political sphere.
