We have no client in this Recall Election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Probolsky Research poll showed that 44.5% of Latino\/Hispanic voters would vote \u201cyes\u201d to the question, \u201cShall Gavin Newsom be recalled (removed) from the office of Governor?\u201d 44.1% answered \u201cno\u201d to the question. Around 14% did not say they would vote \u201cyes\u201d or \u201cno.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt really just speaks to the current state of affairs of Latinos being disproportionately impacted health-wise and economically by this pandemic,\u201d said Adam Probolsky, president of the firm that conducted the research.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ppic.org\/publication\/race-and-voting-in-california\/\">Data<\/a> from the Public Policy Institute of California showed that a majority of Latino likely voters are registered as Democrats at 58%. Only 16% are registered as Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>However, the recent Probolsky poll shows a potential change in direction among Latino voters. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ppic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/crosstabs-likely-voters-0121.pdf\">survey<\/a> conducted by the PPIC in January showed different results and a more favorable view of Newsom. 58% of latinos said they approved of the way that Newsom was \u201chandling his job as governor of California.\u201d A different poll conducted earlier this year by <a href=\"https:\/\/igs.berkeley.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/release_2021-01_governor_newsom.pdf\">Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies<\/a> showed that 28% of latinos would vote \u201cyes\u201d to recall the governor.<\/p>\n<p>Probolsky explained the numbers at a virtual press conference, saying, \u201cThe governor has higher favorables than unfavorables and the recall would fail if the election was today \u2026 We did find some worrying signs of weakness for Newsom, including sizable recall support from Latino voters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Probolsky stated the information shows that Latino voters are still able to be reached by the Newsom administration. \u201cWhile not wildly popular,\u201d Probolsky said, \u201che is not in the desperately precarious position that I think a lot of people would put him in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/news\/politics-government\/capitol-alert\/article250171895.html\">The Sacramento Bee<\/a> reports that in California, Latinos make up almost 40% of the state\u2019s population, \u201cbut represent about half of the state\u2019s COVID-19 cases and deaths. Latinos have also been among the hardest hit by job losses during the health crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>California GOP Chairwoman Jessica Millan Patterson denounced Newsom\u2019s decision to eat at the French Laundry restaurant last year while the pandemic was ongoing and Latino communities were faced with many struggles, the outlet reports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Latino community has been devastated by this governor\u2019s incompetence,\u201d she said in a statement. \u201cLatinos are fed up with empty words and double standards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAm I worried about it? Of course I\u2019m worried about it,\u201d Newsom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/newsom-says-he-is-worried-about-recall-effort\">said<\/a> regarding the recall effort during an appearance on \u201cThe View\u201d last week. He added, \u201cThe nature of these things, the up or down question, the zero-sum nature of the question is challenging \u2026 so we\u2019re taking it seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/newsom-says-he-is-worried-about-recall-effort\">The Daily Wire<\/a> reported last week, \u201cNewsom tweeted a link to a website aimed at stopping the recall attempt. The governor wrote, \u2018I won\u2019t be distracted by this partisan, Republican recall \u2014 but I will fight it. There is too much at stake. Getting Californians vaccinated, our economy safely reopened, and our kids back in school are simply too important to risk.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Counties in California are working to verify the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcra.com\/article\/newsom-recall-what-to-know-about-california-recall-process-governor-1616552268\/35918958#\">reported<\/a> over 1.8 million signatures that the recall effort has submitted.
