CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins specifically asked if he expected to be running against Trump, which has been rumored as a possibility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh, come on,\u201d Biden said, lowering his voice with a grin. \u201cI don\u2019t even think about, I have no idea. I have no idea if there\u2019ll even be a Republican Party.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you?\u201d Biden asked rhetorically. \u201cI know you don\u2019t have to answer my questions, but I mean, do you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>WATCH:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"11.563291139241\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">After saying he would run for re-election, Pres. I want to change the paradigm. I want to change the paradigm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden had claimed earlier during the press conference that he intended to run for re-election. As The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/joe-biden-says-he-plans-to-run-for-re-election-in-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"26\">\n<p><em>\u201cHave you decided whether you are going to run for re-election in 2024? You haven\u2019t set up a re-election campaign yet, as your predecessor had by this time,\u201d asked CBS News White House correspondent Nancy Cordes.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Biden, 78, offered a chuckle, suggesting that former President Donald Trump \u201cneeded to\u201d promptly set up a re-election campaign, before providing a simple answer to the question: \u201cMy plan is to run for re-election. That\u2019s my expectation.\u201d By the time the 2024 general election were to come around, Biden would be several weeks short of his 82nd birthday.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Moments after Biden\u2019s remarks, however, the president hedged his comment when a different reporter suggested that he had made news by \u201csaying you are going to run for re-election.\u201d Biden immediately interrupted the reporter, emphasizing that he had \u201csaid that is my expectation.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump made clear during a recent speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Orlando that he still views himself as the leader of the Republican Party. Polling indicates that most GOP voters would vote for Trump again in 2024. As The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/most-republicans-would-vote-for-trump-in-2024-poll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"13.174796747967\">\n<p><em>A majority of Republicans and Republican-leaning voters would vote for President Donald Trump if he decides to run again in 2024.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Trump received 54% support of those who were asked whom they would back if the 2024 GOP presidential primary were held today, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/morningconsult.com\/2020\/11\/24\/trump-gop-congress-2024-polling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Morning Consult\/Politico poll<\/a> released Tuesday.
