As The Hill <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/news\/544076-ncaa-players-take-a-knee-during-national-anthem\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"14.45652173913\">\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/sports-basketball-virginia-tech-hokies-mens-basketball-florida-gators-mens-basketball-march-madness-deba725602fe2b462f077e51fc166084\">The Associated Press<\/a> reported that most players for No. 16 seed Drexel knelt during the playing of the national anthem before they played Illinois at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Illinois later in the afternoon Friday beat out Drexel to advance to the second round.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Several Colgate players also took a knee before their game against No. 3 seed Arkansas at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Arkansas eventually won the match-up.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The AP noted that several players also took a knee at the Florida-Virginia Tech at Hinkle Fieldhouse, at which Florida came out victorious.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kneeling during \u201cThe Star-Spangled Banner\u201d was first popularized by former San Francisco 49ers player Colin Kaepernick in 2016. He began performing the act to protest what he described as widespread oppression of black people in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,\u201d Kaepernick <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/story\/0ap3000000691077\/article\/colin-kaepernick-explains-protest-of-national-anthem\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> at the time. \u201cTo me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/georgetown-university\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Georgetown University<\/a> has repeatedly made headlines recently for exhibiting woke policies. Earlier this month, the Jesuit school gave a sizable sum to a fund dedicated to racial reparations. The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/georgetown-donates-1-million-to-racial-reparations-org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"21.550510783201\">\n<p><em>Georgetown University contributed $1 million in funding to a Catholic order that pledged to raise money for racial reparations.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>On Tuesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/03\/15\/us\/jesuits-georgetown-reparations-slavery.html\">The New York Times<\/a> announced that a Catholic order pledged to raise $100 million for the descendants of slaves once owned by Georgetown University via a new foundation.
