Victory is yours, in your party\u2019s crushing defeat. They should have listened to you, you keep telling yourself. Just ask the average Texas conservative who couldn\u2019t wait to vote you the hell out of office in the Lone Star State primary. <\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t forget that Ken Paxton walloped you by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/axiosnews\/posts\/ken-paxtons-28-point-rout-of-longtime-sen-john-cornyn-the-widest-primary-defeat-\/1369559011700731\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">28 percentage points<\/a> in the Republican Party runoff. Sure, the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/06\/23\/exclusive-james-talarico-described-himself-as-a-christian-who-hates-christianity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Christianity-hating Christian<\/a> with the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox7austin.com\/news\/james-talarico-says-atheists-more-christ-like-than-christian-colleagues\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">non-binary\u201d god<\/a> beat the guy who beat you by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2026-elections\/texas-senate-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">12 points<\/a> in the general \u2014 thanks to the blueing of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsfromthestates.com\/article\/six-charts-explain-how-texas-suburbs-became-midterm-battleground\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rapidly-growing suburbs<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/11\/04\/the-nationwide-collapse-of-the-republican-party-is-trumps-fault\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">very unpopular war<\/a> you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=xnqgJMw35fw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lustily signed on to.<\/a>   <\/p>\n<p>But don\u2019t miss the message, JC. Texas Republicans wholesale rejected your RINO behind because you spent four long terms in Washington, D.C. soaking in the swamp and turning your back on the voters who elected you. It took a little more than an hour of counting to reach the verdict. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cJohn Cornyn was the last remaining representative of Bush-era Republican conservatism, and the ease with which Paxton dispatched him signals that the state\u2019s party is now firmly in the hands of Trump\u2019s MAGA base,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/brookings-institution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trump-hating Brookings Institution<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brookings.edu\/articles\/paxtons-landslide-win-signals-end-of-bush-era-texas-gop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lamented. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Red Texas voters had had enough of what remained of the Bush-Rove Republican Party. <\/p>\n<p>And a lot of disaffected Texas Republicans \u2014 as they did across the country \u2014 stayed home on Election Day because they felt betrayed by a party that failed to deliver on campaign promises made just two years before. In short, John, conservatives were disgusted with Republicans like you screwing them. <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/05\/20\/john-cornyns-failure-to-fight-for-the-save-act-cost-him-trumps-endorsement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">*See the SAVE America Act.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>You have shown your true colors so many times, it\u2019s surprising it took this long for Texans to reject you. Almost as surprising as your incredulity in Trump\u2019s decision to endorse Paxton after your history of <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/05\/27\/conservatives-are-driving-out-rinos-from-the-senate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stabbing the president in the back.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen it was fashionable, he kissed my ass,\u201d President Trump said of  the legendary Cornyn duplicitousness. <\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Trump: &#8220;I just wasn&#8217;t a fan of Cornyn\u2026I found him to be a disloyal guy. He was not a fan of mine, to be honest, when it wasn&#8217;t fashionable, he wasn&#8217;t there\u2026.when it was fashionable, he kissed my ass. I remember the other days.
