His win was portrayed as a milestone for a left\u2011wing coalition that includes Muslim candidates; reports say more than 30 other Muslim candidates were victorious, including several aiming for House seats.<\/p>\n<p>The piece says El\u2011Sayed has been linked-according to various reports-to the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamic organizations, and that he was reluctant to answer questions about those connections and only issued a tepid denunciation when pressed. It also claims he would not denounce Iran\u2019s regime or the IRGC and was careful in commenting on the death of Iran\u2019s leader out of concern for voters\u2019 feelings. Past campaign remarks are cited-an exchange in which he told an opponent that \u201cMuslims definitely hate you\u201d-and his policy positions are noted (abolishing ICE, nationalizing health care). His victory signals a new high-water mark for the red-green alliance in the United States, as a left-wing Muslim with ties to radical Islamic groups will now wield real power in the upper chamber of Congress. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cair.com\/press_releases\/cair-cair-action-congratulate-39-muslim-election-winners-report-at-least-77-muslim-candidates-nationwide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">It is estimated that more than<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muslimnetwork.tv\/at-least-36-muslim-candidates-win-or-lead-races-in-2026-us-midterm-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">30<\/a> other Muslim candidates also won elections, including <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CAIRNational\/status\/2117999072510431595?a=vOu07jhcZBonnd4DtoI&#038;s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">seven running<\/a> for seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.<\/p>\n<p>Despite a tranche of evidence demonstrating El-Sayed\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/tag\/abdul-el-sayed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ties to<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/elections\/madness-in-michigan-muslim-brotherhood-friendly-radical-heads-to-us-senate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">support<\/a> of the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamic groups, he was loath to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JTMonnington\/status\/2113384750555803917?a=3swfa5Vh652Pcp85gtQ&#038;s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">answer<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/daily-memo\/4771397\/slick-abdul-el-sayed\/?srsltid=AYCX9vJyvy2Fie85z_shKxhUmwd4WijcH7fugzHpurUEaa-nFZIbH7lM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">questions<\/a> about those ties and had to be pressured into issuing a weak-kneed condemnation of the group. He also <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/10\/02\/abdul-el-sayed-refused-to-condemn-the-islamic-terror-regime-that-persecuted-my-family-members\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">refused<\/a> to condemn the Islamic terror regime in Iran and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, and chose not to speak about the death of Iran\u2019s leader because so many potential El-Sayed voters in Michigan were saddened by his death. <\/p>\n<p>In a previous political <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/unearthed-clip-exposes-clash-between-el-sayed-ex-gop-rival-muslims-hate-you\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">campaign<\/a>, El-Sayed infamously told his opponent, \u201cYou may not hate Muslims. But I\u2019ll tell you, Muslims definitely hate you.\u201d El-Sayed also campaigned for <a href=\"https:\/\/abdulforsenate.com\/2026\/01\/abdul-el-sayed-is-calling-to-abolish-ice-his-opponents-wont\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">abolishing ICE<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/abdulforsenate.com\/priority\/medicare-for-all-the-path-to-a-healthier-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nationalizing<\/a> health care, and seemingly <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JTMonnington\/status\/2117281669170249750?a=h-yveOAf_wxHfPndGA4&#038;s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">argued<\/a> that young girls should be exposed to male nudity in locker rooms because they can access pornography on their smartphones.<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>When El-Sayed took the stage at his campaign rally to celebrate his victory, he made a point of pronouncing his name with a decided Arabic accent and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/detroit\/news\/el-sayed-victory-speech-michigan-senate-first-muslim-senator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">repeating<\/a> the phrases \u201cinshallah\u201d and \u201calhamdulillah,\u201d leading to a roaring response from the crowd. \u201cFor the right-wing ops, that just means \u2018Praise be to God,&#8217;\u201d he added. El-Sayed will now weigh in legislatively on a host of issues at a national level, such as immigration law enforcement and policy, health care, and foreign policy issues. He will have unvetted access to privileged national security data. <\/p>\n<p>Muslim <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CAIRNational\/status\/2117999072510431595?a=B1MfeyS4gyeHo6LmHTo&#038;s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">candidates<\/a> Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., Andr\u00e9 Carson, D-Ind., Aisha Wahab, D-Calif., and Lateefah Simon, D-Calif., secured reelections, and newcomers Darializa Avila Chevalier, D-N.Y., and Adam Hamawy, D-N.J., will take their places in Congress for the first time in January. While El-Sayed drew the lion\u2019s share of the scrutiny during the campaign season, these congressional candidates have also raised concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Omar, whom federal court documents <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/10\/30\/minnesota-rep-by-2016-everyone-knew-ilhan-omar-married-her-brother\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">identify<\/a> as Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, is under federal investigation related to her alleged immigration fraud and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/ilhan-omar-wealth-scandal-takes-turn-one-day-after-raid-dc-home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">financial disclosures<\/a>. There is also an <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/10\/30\/minnesota-rep-by-2016-everyone-knew-ilhan-omar-married-her-brother\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ever-growing<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/yes-ilhan-omar-married-her-brother\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">library<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/10\/29\/us-news\/lhan-omars-alleged-brother-she-wed-in-sham-marriage-identifies-as-gay-man-in-academic-paper\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">of evidence<\/a> suggesting she married her brother as part of a scheme to facilitate his residency in the United States. Elmi has <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.com\/Politics\/rep-ilhan-omar-defends-american\/story?id=62335569\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claimed<\/a> she is \u201cas American as everyone else is\u201d while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.startribune.com\/fact-check-what-did-rep-ilhan-omar-say-in-widely-criticized-speech\/600339956\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bragging<\/a> about using her position to represent the interests of Somalia and once summing up the 9\/11 terror attacks as \u201csome people did something.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hamawy has faced questions because of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/2026\/11\/adam-hamawy-congress-backstory\/689219\/?gift=SGP_jVpjFhhw1gdjNwRqmYABhv2jUmGPjrWhqFSryqY&#038;utm_source=copy-link&#038;utm_medium=social&#038;utm_campaign=share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lengthy association<\/a> with Omar Abdel-Rahman (the \u201cBlind Sheikh\u201d), who was reported to be \u201cthe religious leader of Egypt\u2019s largest jihadist group\u201d and once stated that \u201cwe must be terrorists, and we must terrorize the enemies of Islam and frighten them and disturb them and shake the earth under their feet.\u201d Hamawy has recently downplayed his association with Abdel-Rahman. Abdel-Rahman was ultimately sentenced to life in prison for involvement in terror plots. Hamawy has also campaigned with El-Sayed and extreme leftist Hasan Piker. <\/p>\n<p>DSA member <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/07\/30\/barack-obama-fathered-todays-marxist-democrat-party\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Darializa Avila Chevalier<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/06\/24\/propaganda-media-gear-up-to-whitewash-new-yorks-socialist-takeover\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">convert<\/a> to Islam, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/06\/24\/propaganda-media-gear-up-to-whitewash-new-yorks-socialist-takeover\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">helped<\/a> start a Columbia University group that had the stated goal of destroying Western civilization. She has also been open about her <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/07\/01\/axios-says-problem-with-democrats-embrace-of-communism-is-republicans-noticing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marxist beliefs<\/a>, claimed Israel doesn\u2019t exist, and bragged about using the American flag as a napkin. Tlaib \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/28\/biden-lost-in-dearborn-again-proving-radical-is-the-new-mainstream-in-the-democrat-party\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">was<\/a> the only member of the House to not vote to condemn rape and sexual assault by Hamas.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>At the state level, Democrat Muslim Aber Kawas won a seat in the New York State Senate, becoming the first Palestinian to do so. He is the owner of a daycare center that received more than <a href=\"https:\/\/alphanews.org\/nearby-worker-says-they-never-saw-children-enter-dfl-candidates-daycare-that-received-7-2m\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$7 million<\/a> in public funds and was sponsored by \u201ca nonprofit that recently agreed to pay $18 million to settle fraud claims against it.\u201d The facility <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/12\/29\/us-news\/bad-timing-for-somali-born-day-care-owner-running-for-minnesota-legislature\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">has racked<\/a> up a number of violations of state guidelines. <\/p>\n<p>NBC exit polling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2026-elections\/exit-polls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">puts<\/a> Muslims at just 1 percent of overall voters, but they swung overwhelmingly Democrat (86 percent). The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) released an exit poll <a href=\"https:\/\/muslims.vote\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/11\/CAIR_CAIR_Action_2026_Exit_Survey_Muslim_Voters.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">survey<\/a> that estimated turnout at more than 90 percent of registered Muslim voters.
