U.S. officials described the action as a limited strike against Iranian missile launchers rather than a wider return to major combat; an unnamed defense official told NBC News it was a defensive response to Iranians using surface-to-air missiles against U.S. assets. President Trump had earlier said he would not order strikes on Iran before the U.S. midterm elections.

On Tuesday morning,President Trump said the United States would stop direct aid to israel by the end of the year.In a Fox News interview he claimed he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had agreed to end the roughly $4 billion annual payment; how that would work is unclear, especially since Congress controls appropriations for foreign assistance.

In markets, Brent crude opened Monday at $104.45 per barrel, a slight decline from the prior close. AAA reports the U.S.average price for regular gasoline is $4.15 per gallon and for diesel $6.29 per gallon.

Loading the Elevenlabs Text to Speech AudioNative Player…

The U.S. military conducted strikes Monday on Iran’s Qeshm Island, after Iran reportedly shot down an American drone and unsuccessfully targeted two American fighter jets.
