Muhammad has a long record of promoting antisemitic ideas and defending NOI leader louis Farrakhan, who has called Jews \u201ctermites\u201d and praised Adolf Hitler.<\/p>\n<p>Muhammad has shared and promoted NOI materials claiming jews controlled the transatlantic slave trade and a 2023 Farrakhan speech that justified aspects of Hitler\u2019s actions. In interviews and posts he has repeatedly referred to \u201cthe enemy\u201d in terms the NOI commonly uses for Jews, accused Jewish people of having disproportionate money and influence, and invoked Holocaust language to describe alleged attacks on Black Muslim businesses. Muhammad has said Farrakhan encouraged him to run for office and advised him against visiting Israel,citing hostility toward Muslims.<\/p>\n<p>Those links have prompted backlash. The Combat Antisemitism Movement removed Muhammad from its mayoral advisory board after a report on his comments and NOI ties,and CAM criticized El-Sayed for rhetoric it says endangers Jews. Moderate and Jewish Democrats have also raised concerns in the final stretch of the Senate race about El-Sayed\u2019s past anti-Israel remarks and his perceived hesitation to unequivocally condemn antisemitic rhetoric. Former Michigan Democratic chair Lon Johnson said El-Sayed has been reluctant to strongly repudiate hazardous language targeting Jews.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Haley Stevens &#8211; who narrowly lost to El-Sayed in the primary &#8211; said she accepted an invitation from mentor Rep. Jim Clyburn to appear with El-Sayed only after hearing he would condemn an antisemitic ad produced on his behalf by Cenk Uygur. Stevens criticized El-sayed for initially saying his campaign wasn\u2019t affiliated with the Rebellion PAC ad, and indicated her participation in an upcoming event was contingent on him publicly disavowing it.<\/p>\n<p>Other NOI leaders have shown support for El-Sayed, though the institution hasn\u2019t formally endorsed him.Troy X. Muhammad, head of the NOI mosque in Detroit, attended an event tied to a PAC backing El-Sayed; recordings show he has made threatening rhetoric about Jews and groups that criticized Farrakhan. El-Sayed\u2019s campaign did not respond to requests for comment.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed continues to double down on his public associations with antisemites, campaigning Thursday alongside a Nation of Islam &#8220;student minister&#8221; and acolyte of the antisemitic group&#8217;s longtime leader, Louis Farrakhan, who has referred to Jews as &#8220;termites&#8221; and praised Adolf Hitler.<\/p>\n<p>The left-wing Democrat appeared with Marcus Muhammad at a get-out-the-vote rally in Benton Harbor, where Muhammad serves as mayor. &#8220;Allow me to introduce the next United States Senator representing the State of Michigan,&#8221; Muhammad <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MarcusMuhammad4Mayor\/posts\/pfbid0vAyNznRrJnJbAWFFezGadmghtj4xvNKbMGqQ6vc8wTJkywJ5wvzU2JYMQPovckyCl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote in a caption of a photo<\/a> with a much shorter El-Sayed.<\/p>\n<p>Muhammad, despite his mayoral responsibilities, has not shied away from promoting Farrakhan&#8217;s virulently antisemitic conspiracy theories. He recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.threads.com\/@marcus4polytics\/post\/Dac6b4FmrhL\/put-the-muslim-program-to-congress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promoted<\/a> a video of Farrakhan discussing <em>The Secret Relationship Between Blacks and Jews Vol. 2<\/em>, a pseudoscientific Nation of Islam work that claims Jews controlled the transatlantic slave trade.<\/p>\n<p>It comes as El-Sayed faces mounting criticism from moderate and Jewish Democrats in the closing days of the pivotal Senate race over his anti-Israel remarks and what former Michigan Democratic Party chairman Lon Johnson recently called &#8220;his reluctance to unequivocally condemn dangerous rhetoric&#8221; against Jews.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Haley Stevens, who narrowly lost to El-Sayed in the Democratic primary in August, issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HaleyforMI\/status\/2116161977256980989\/photo\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/x.com\/HaleyforMI\/status\/2116161977256980989\/photo\/1&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1793475657425000&#038;usg=AOvVaw3eg5zdV1-z_FEY85_uugMS\">remarkable statement<\/a> on Friday saying she had accepted an invitation from her mentor, Rep. Jim Clyburn (D., S.C.), to appear alongside El-Sayed given his &#8220;expected condemnation&#8221; of an antisemitic ad produced on his behalf by Cenk Uygur, Hasan Piker&#8217;s uncle, that blamed Jews for rising grocery prices. But she assailed El-Sayed for his response to the ad thus far and suggested that she is conditioning her appearance at the Sunday event on his public disavowal of the ad.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For days, Abdul&#8217;s only answer to the Rebellion PAC advertisement produced by Hasan Piker&#8217;s uncle, Cenk Uygur, was that his campaign was &#8216;not affiliated&#8217; with it. &#8230; I have learned from Democratic Party leaders and emissaries, as reported in the news media, that Dr. El-Sayed has heard the deep concerns of the Jewish community and is now, for the first time in his campaign, formally condemning that ad for what it is.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2026\/11\/localimages\/Screenshot-2026-10-30-154251.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2026\/11\/localimages\/Screenshot-2026-10-30-142311.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Muhammad is an influential figure in the Nation of Islam and a staunch defender of Farrakhan, who has hailed Adolf Hitler as a &#8220;great man&#8221; and compared Jews to &#8220;termites.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Muhammad, who rose through the Nation of Islam&#8217;s ranks in Chicago, has repeatedly amplified the Nation&#8217;s and Farrakhan&#8217;s antisemitic rantings, the <em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/photos-show-grinning-abdul-el-sayed-buddying-up-with-nation-of-islam-ministers-who-railed-against-the-jews-defended-farrakhan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. In addition to promoting the conspiracy video about Jews controlling the slave trade, Muhammad has also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.threads.com\/@marcus4polytics\/post\/DAbbtBCyUbK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promoted<\/a> a 2023 Farrakhan speech in which Farrakhan rationalized Hitler&#8217;s actions in Nazi Germany, stating that &#8220;Hitler went against usury and Hitler attacked pornography that the Jews had put on the Germans.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Muhammad has invoked antisemitic conspiracy theories of his own.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vBSfemIWllo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an interview<\/a> with Nation of Islam members in May, Muhammad referred repeatedly to &#8220;the enemy&#8221;\u2014a term the Nation of Islam often uses to refer to Jews\u2014while discussing <em>The Israel Lobby<\/em>, a book that alleges Jews malignantly shape American foreign policy. &#8220;They have the muscle, they have the money, they have power, they have influence,&#8221; said Muhammad.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, Muhammad defended Farrakhan with <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/marcus4polytics\/status\/1283747218462314500\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a photo<\/a> stating that, &#8220;Yet for fear of the Jews no one spoke openly of him.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, Muhammad <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MarcusMuhammad4Mayor\/posts\/pfbid02hqAR57Z1WNfbCp3LAK7bJuX5zuTiHo3P6wqhjzmVedbywck3CLVUSy7FXGwY7T59l\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote of<\/a> &#8220;the ongoing Jewish and Gentile Kristallnacht against Black Muslim businesses,&#8221; invoking the Holocaust-era Nazi pogrom against Jews. Muhammad has <a href=\"https:\/\/new.finalcall.com\/2024\/03\/11\/state-of-black-america-2024a-gloomy-60th-anniversary-for-the-civil-rights-act-of-1964\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">called<\/a> the Nation of Islam&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/noi.org\/muslim-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Muslim Program<\/a>,&#8221; an influential treatise that calls for racial segregation and states that &#8220;intermarriage or race mixing should be prohibited,&#8221; the &#8220;ultimate solution&#8221; to America&#8217;s &#8220;race problem.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Farrakhan has had significant influence on Muhammad&#8217;s political career and his views towards Israel. Muhammad has stated that Farrakhan pushed him to run for political office, and told him during a meeting that &#8220;I&#8217;m your cornerman.&#8221; In 2019, Muhammad <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/marcus4polytics\/status\/1162033256516263937\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Farrakhan advised him to reject an invitation to visit Israel as part of a &#8220;peace mission&#8221; due to &#8220;the great dangers and hatred that exist.&#8221; He wrote that he declined the visit because of Israel&#8217;s &#8220;vitriolic disposition toward Muslims.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Muhammad&#8217;s rhetoric and ties to the Nation of Islam have also drawn scrutiny from organizations that combat antisemitism.<\/p>\n<p>The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM), a coalition of 700 groups that fight antisemitism, <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/combat-antisemitism-movement-ousts-abdul-el-sayed-ally-dismissal-of-student-minister-follows-free-beacon-report-on-his-nation-of-islam-ties\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">removed Muhammad<\/a> from its mayoral advisory board earlier this year following a <em>Free Beacon<\/em> report about his remarks about Israel and Jews and his affiliation with the Nation of Islam.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;CAM was recently made aware of positions and affiliations held by Mayor Muhammad that are inconsistent with CAM&#8217;s mission. As a result, CAM decided he will no longer serve on the board, and he was notified accordingly,&#8221; a spokesperson said, citing the Nation&#8217;s &#8220;notorious record of antisemitism.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>CAM also called out El-Sayed for stoking vitriol against Jews.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The conspiratorial rhetoric espoused by Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed has placed a target on the backs of Jews across Michigan and beyond,&#8221; the CAM spokesman said.<\/p>\n<p>Other Nation of Islam leaders have rallied behind El-Sayed in the closing days of the campaign, though the Nation of Islam as a whole has not issued an endorsement in the race.<\/p>\n<p>Troy X. Muhammad, the head of the Nation of Islam&#8217;s mosque in Detroit, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/samueljrob\/status\/2115528377616802152\">attended an event<\/a> in Dearborn on Thursday hosted by the Unity &#038; Justice Fund, a PAC linked to the Council on American-Islamic Relations, that is backing El-Sayed.        <\/p>\n<p>Troy Muhammad, who appeared with El-Sayed at an event last year, has threatened Jews for criticizing Farrakhan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Those like the Jews who, like Goliath, they think that they&#8217;re big, but Farrakhan will bring them down,&#8221; he said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BDQdRj5WmO0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a 2018 video recording<\/a> unearthed by the <em>Free Beacon<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>He also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/iran-warns-israel-we-are-ready-for-war\/\" title=\"Iran Warns Israel: \u2018We Are Ready for War\u2019\">issued thinly veiled threats<\/a> against Jewish groups who had criticized Farrakhan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Behind me is [sic] soldiers you see and some that you don&#8217;t see.
