Haley Stevens into the Republican Party after she unexpectedly endorsed Republican Mike Rogers in the closely watched Michigan Senate race just days before voters head to the polls.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to reporters before a rally in Dubuque, Iowa, Trump said the GOP \u201cwould love to have\u201d Stevens.Johnson said he had contacted Stevens, praised her action as \u201cheroic and crucial,\u201d and complimented her record and motives. Both expressed concern for her safety; Johnson warned the political climate is \u201ca heightened threat surroundings,\u201d and Trump criticized opponents,calling some of them \u201cdangerous\u201d and using a disputed label for Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed.<\/p>\n<p>The endorsement followed a turbulent 48 hours in Michigan. (Thomas Catenacci\/Washington Free Beacon)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Johnson said he had spoken to the Democratic congresswoman and that she &#8220;did a heroic and important thing for the country.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I sent her a note, spoke to Haley, and told her how great she was, how much we appreciate that she&#8217;s standing for the truth,&#8221; Johnson added. &#8220;She is a good person. \u2029She&#8217;s always been very thoughtful. She loves her state and has served it as best she could. And she&#8217;s speaking the truth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Johnson said he told Stevens to &#8220;stay safe.&#8221; In response to a follow-up question about whether he feared for Stevens&#8217;s safety, the speaker added that &#8220;we are in a heightened threat environment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are dangerous people out there,&#8221; Johnson said. &#8220;Of course\u2014she and her fianc\u00e9 have been getting a lot of threats.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Trump interjected: &#8220;They&#8217;re dangerous\u2014they&#8217;re jihadists,&#8221; he said. &#8220;He&#8217;s a Muslim Brotherhood guy,&#8221; Trump added, referring to <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/abdul-el-sayeds-family-has-long-been-in-egyptian-muslim-brotherhood-senate-candidates-sister-said-in-unearthed-social-media-posts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yeah, I&#8217;d say she&#8217;s in danger,&#8221; Trump said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2170562\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2170562\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2026\/11\/localimages\/DSC07544-scaled.jpg\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2170562\">President Donald Trump delivers a campaign speech during a rally in Dubuque, Iowa, on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026. (Thomas Catenacci\/Washington Free Beacon)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The comments from Trump and Johnson cap what has been a whirlwind 48 hours in Michigan.        <\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Stevens raised eyebrows when she released a statement saying she would attend a Sunday &#8220;unity&#8221; event with El-Sayed at a black church in Detroit, but demanded El-Sayed condemn an antisemitic ad produced on his behalf blaming Jews for higher food prices.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of issuing such a statement, El-Sayed <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/closing-catfight-el-sayed-disinvites-haley-stevens-from-unity-event-after-refusing-to-condemn-antisemitic-ad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blasted<\/a> both Stevens and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, then disinvited Stevens from the event. &#8220;Our campaign has always been focused on addressing the most critical challenges Michiganders are facing. That focus is why our people-powered campaign defeated a historic $70M in outside spending from big corporations and AIPAC on behalf of Congresswoman Stevens,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Stevens initially indicated she would still back El-Sayed. Then she was spotted with Rogers at a different Detroit church on Sunday morning and released a video formally endorsing him during the service.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This was a personal and private decision,&#8221; Stevens <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/elections\/detroit-churchgoers-say-haley-stevenss-stunning-endorsement-of-republican-mike-rogers-could-move-votes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told reporters outside of the church<\/a>. &#8220;I woke up this morning and I decided to go to church. And I&#8217;m here with the person who I am voting for for United States Senate, and that is Mike Rogers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Stevens has now found herself isolated among Democrats.
