A further expansion to target Canadians with mental health issues is now being debated.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">State-administered death is now more common in Canada than gun homicide is in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>That didn\u2019t happen by accident. https:\/\/t.co\/nfcHxg45TW<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mike Lee (@BasedMikeLee) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BasedMikeLee\/status\/2102069009239965786?\">September 21, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Age may soon not be a barrier if some have their way.<\/p>\n<p>For example, doctors at the Quebec College of Physicians have said state-sanctioned death \u201cmay be an appropriate treatment for babies suffering from extreme pain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Canada is now the world leader in total euthanasia deaths, and comes second to the Netherlands in the per-capita rate of state-approved lethal injections, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/voz.us\/en\/world\/260924\/39369\/more-deaths-by-euthanasia-in-canada-than-by-gun-homicides-in-the-u-s-what-the-data-says-and-why-the-debate-matters.html#google_vignette\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VOZ<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The site noted that Canada\u2019s rise in ridding itself of its elderly and ill comes amid \u201crecurring accounts of elderly, disabled or vulnerable people who claim to have been pressured or to have not given explicit consent.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">America has 8.5 times more people than Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Yet still, more people are killed from government-assisted \u201csuicide\u201d in Canada than are killed by firearms in America.<\/p>\n<p>Not per capita.<\/p>\n<p>Total deaths.<\/p>\n<p>Insanity.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Lauren Chen (@TheLaurenChen) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TheLaurenChen\/status\/2102473477793964506?\">September 22, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>In British Columbia, 51.9 percent of assisted death cases in 2024 required follow-up due to various factors, including 2,807 errors and 353 cases so tangled that training was insisted upon for the staff who kill patients.<\/p>\n<p>In one high-profile Canadian case, family members alleged that Brigitte Stegemann, 83, who was killed by the government in July, did not give explicit consent to her death, saying that days before she was killed, she had \u201cmade a mistake\u201d in agreeing to be considered for euthanasia.<\/p>\n<p>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dordt.edu\/in-all-things\/the-cautionary-tale-of-euthanasia-in-canada\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">op-ed<\/a> on the website of Dordt University, Levi Minderhoud and Daniel Zekveld wrote in 2025 that \u201cCanada is increasingly standing as a warning to other countries about the consequences of legalizing euthanasia and assisted suicide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Noting that many state-approved deaths came after a loss of dignity was reported, they wrote that \u201cas Christians, we know that dignity is not found in one\u2019s ability, health, or disposition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that every person has dignity, simply by the fact that human beings are made in the image of God,\u201d they added. \u201cSuperficially it may seem compassionate to some. However, in reality, it tells them they are no longer worth helping, that they are nothing but the sum of their aches and pains, their fears and their despair.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA society ceases to recognize innate human dignity at their peril.
