Some reports said the two others also later died.<\/p>\n<p>Police later opened cases for attempted murder, attempted carjacking, and an inquest into the death, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizen.co.za\/highway-mail\/news-headlines\/local-news\/2026\/10\/22\/video-pinetown-father-opens-fire-on-alleged-hijackers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Highway Mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Local security official Andreas Mathios of Marshall Security described Hill\u2019s response as instinctive protection of his family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis man is a hero,\u201d Mathios said. \u201cHe firstly and instinctively made sure that his family was safe.
