Brian Schatz would like to set you straight.<\/p>\n<p>Schatz, the senior member of the Senate from Hawaii, appeared on CNN Thursday to discuss the possibility of a Democratic victory in one or both houses of Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Now that the election cycle is in its homestretch, he apparently feels comfortable enough admitting what this is all about \u2014 not looking out for America, but looking for chances to prosecute officials in President Donald Trump\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n<p>The admission came toward the end of the sit-down with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cnn-humiliates-joe-biden-rolling-tape-7-damaging-clips-regarding-hunters-pardon\/\">Kasie Hunt<\/a>, in which she said \u201cthere is this question about whether congressional overreach could make it harder for Democrats to win the presidency in 2028,\u201d according to a network transcript.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow do you think about that concern?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n<p>Schatz: \u201cI\u2019m not very worried about congressional overreach if the president of the United States is Donald Trump, right? If we actually have power, then we\u2019re going to struggle against each other, the Article I branch of the Constitution against the Article II branch, as it was supposed to be.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Senator Brian Schatz admits Democrats would weaponize the government against the Trump administration if they gain power.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not very worried about congressional overreach if the President of the United States is Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democrats have no plan to help Americans. https:\/\/t.co\/OFLMzPWvH5<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 RNC Research (@RNCResearch) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RNCResearch\/status\/2113380742398894216?\">October 22, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>He has no concern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/false-moderates-part-4-aocs-presidential-ambitions-threaten-american-liberty\/\">about whether Congress<\/a> will \u201coverreach\u201d \u2014 itself an admission of abuse and a runaway party \u2014 and went on to say that if Trump himself doesn\u2019t get impeached, he wouldn\u2019t mind seeing some cabinet members catch strays.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook, I think that \u2014 I think the public generally views a lot of the president\u2019s conduct as impeachable. The question for House members is, does a third impeachment do the trick? What does it accomplish?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy own instinct is that there are a number of Cabinet officials who may have also violated the law and committed high crimes and misdemeanors and there may be more of an aperture for the impeachment of certain officials at that level because the public would not see this as like, \u2018there they go again they\u2019re doing the thing that won\u2019t work and it\u2019s performative and it\u2019s just for the clicks,\u2019\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Note that he does not talk about actual evidence. He apparently doesn\u2019t need it. Nor does he talk about whether it would be efficacious. He apparently doesn\u2019t need any evidence of that, either.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, what he needs is some evidence that the American people won\u2019t see this as \u201cjust for the clicks,\u201d even though this is definitionally just for the clicks\u00a0<em>sans<\/em> evidence or a real path to conviction.<\/p>\n<p>If Schatz were merely some kind of aberration, this would just be tasteless and nothing else. Consider, however, the fact that this comes on the back of Schatz\u2019s colleague, Michigan Democrat Sen.
