I get that a well-placed \u201cI have no recollection of that, senator\u201d is sometimes a heck of a lot better than a yes or a no, especially if you\u2019re under oath.<\/p>\n<p>However, if the question is whether you married a man who is your brother and the response is \u201cnot to my knowledge,\u201d come\u00a0<em>on.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>You probably already know who and what I\u2019m talking about, but for the uninitiated, the rumor that Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar wed her brother as part of a feint to get him permanent residency status in the United States is a lot more than a rumor now that sources say that they have DNA evidence <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-feds-dna-evidence-ilhan-omar-committed-voter-fraud-married-brother-source\/\">linking the two as siblings<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/10\/19\/us-news\/feds-have-dna-evidence-that-could-prove-ilhan-omar-committed-immigration-fraud-wed-her-brother-sources\/\">The New York Post<\/a> said that the DNA match had been obtained as part of a \u201cyears-long\u201d investigation into Omar and her family, and play into a larger case investigating whether \u201cOmar \u2014 and possibly members of her family like her father \u2014 defrauded immigration authorities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the Post\u2019s Miranda Devine noted that she had a source that had confirmed Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, Omar\u2019s second husband, was also her brother, but that her informant was scooped up by the FBI under President Joe Biden:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Ahem. Five years ago I wrote a column about DNA test results that showed there was a 99.999998 percent chance that Ilhan Omar and her second husband Ahmed Elmi were siblings. A few hours before we went to press my informant was arrested by Biden\u2019s FBI. Funny that. https:\/\/t.co\/MEBWf5U7pv<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Miranda Devine (@mirandadevine) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mirandadevine\/status\/2112370692977234072?\">October 20, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>So, Omar \u2014 who\u2019s been mostly in hiding since a raid on her house last week by immigration authorities, a raid sources say was predicated on allegations that she falsified information on her naturalization documents and continued falsifying it \u2014 went onto the friendly confines of MS NOW for a not-terribly-searching interview aired Wednesday night about whether or not she\u2019d done anything awry.<\/p>\n<p>It was, for the most part, an exercise in tee-ball, where Hayes would gently set up a question about the perfidies of the right wing and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-ilhan-omars-relatives-bristle-speculation-congresswomans-whereabouts-builds\/\">Omar<\/a> would hit it as hard as she could. Then came the matter of her brother, which Hayes approached in a laughing manner.<\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-embed\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"EXCLUSIVE | Ilhan Omar SPEAKS OUT after home raid: \u2018Their goal is to intimidate\u2019\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5eyFPYhIHJE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWho was this man that was your husband? When did they start saying that he was your brother? Why?\u201d Hayes asked.<\/p>\n<p>She explained <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dhs-secretary-markwayne-mullin-says-ilhan-omar-married-brother-somethings-going-happen\/\">that the story<\/a> started on a \u201cSomali blog\u201d that may not still exists but said \u201che had to have been my brother or something to that effect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd right-wing conspiracy theorists in Minneapolis got a hold of it and they just kind of went and found random people who were like, \u2018She introduced us. She introduced him to us and said he was her brother.\u2019 Which is insane,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ilhan-omar-missing-since-home-raided-emerges-beg-money-tiktok\/\">Omar<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>OK, but: \u201d He was not \u2014 you were not related to him at all?\u201d Hayes said. \u201cNot that there\u2019s not some weird kernel of truth that through some\u2013\u201c<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot to my knowledge,\u201d Omar said.<\/p>\n<p>You can almost see this moment play out in Adam McKay\u2019s version of \u201cThe Ilhan Omar Story\u201d when it hits the theaters. This is doubly true when that marriage just so happens to conveniently get someone a green card.<\/p>\n<p>Virtually nobody, in this day and age, ends up in court telling a judge, \u201cHow the heck was I supposed to know he was my brother?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is precisely what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ilhan-omar-fake-name-new-court-filing-identifying-omars-alias-americans-questioning-real-name\/\">Ilhan Omar<\/a> is expecting us to believe \u2014 that a law-school graduate and four-term congresswoman doesn\u2019t know\u00a0<em>for sure<\/em> whether she\u2019s married her sibling. Give us a break.<\/p>\n<p>It goes without saying that Omar\u2019s position is a complicated one: She can\u2019t just hide from the cameras as the investigation unfolds, but if they really do have the goods on her, she can\u2019t say that she knows for certain he wasn\u2019t her brother when he was.<\/p>\n<p>However, if she can\u2019t even speak definitively to the fact that the man she married wasn\u2019t a family member, the next few months are going to be an unusually rocky patch for Rep. Omar and everyone who\u2019s cosigned her political career, even by the standards of U.S. politics.
