Vance highlighted a strange lie that Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed once told about whether he was an American.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the Michigan Democratic Party\u2019s spring 2017 convention, El-Sayed, who was born in a suburb of Detroit in 1984 to Egyptian parents, said, \u201cI\u2019m done with this notion that certain kinds of people cannot rise up to be a part of leadership in this society,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/abdul-el-sayed-called-himself-an-immigrant-from-north-africa-during-2017-michigan-dem-convention-speech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Washington Free Beacon<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have an opportunity to rethink the way we do government, despite the fact that I may be an immigrant from North Africa,\u201d the then-gubernatorial candidate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zV7AwjUkfOQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">added<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">In 2017, Abdul El-Sayed called himself \u201can immigrant from North Africa.\u201d https:\/\/t.co\/gNOO5ONXhL<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bobby LaValley (@Bobby_LaVallley) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Bobby_LaVallley\/status\/2110139240566649034?\">October 13, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Vance told podcast host <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/political-expert-mark-halperin-reveals-private-polls-looking-quite-different-numbers-shown-media\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mark Halperin<\/a> in a clip posted Monday on social media that if he had the opportunity to ask El-Sayed a question, it would be, \u201cWhy would you lie and say you didn\u2019t come from America, when you did?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd what does it say about the prevailing social attitudes of American elites that a person would actually feel compelled to lie about whether they had come from this country, as if it was something to be ashamed of?\u201d the vice president added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cWhy would you lie and say that you didn\u2019t come from America when you did?\u201d@JDVance asks about Abdul El-Sayed. \u201cI think it goes to the thing that really bothers me about him\u2026 He seems to have a real sense of revulsion towards native born Americans. I don\u2019t get it.\u201d @MarkHalperin<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 2WAY (@2waytvapp) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/2waytvapp\/status\/2112337085185048664?\">October 20, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Vance went to observe, \u00a0\u201cThe lack of gratitude he shows to the United States of America, the fact that he was raised by a couple of white step-grandparents but seems to have a real sense of revulsion toward native-born Americans, I don\u2019t get it. I don\u2019t know where it comes from, and it makes me think that there\u2019s something very dark.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Free Beacon noted, \u201cIt\u2019s the most recent example of El-Sayed suggesting he is something other than a full-blown American-born citizen. El-Sayed stated on his academic r\u00e9sum\u00e9 in 2014 that he had American and Egyptian citizenship\u2026 Two years later, in 2016, he told an audience in Detroit, where he served as city health director at the time, that he had \u2018dual citizenship\u2019 in Egypt and the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, \u201cEl-Sayed\u2019s campaign said El-Sayed spoke in \u2018error\u2019 after being misinformed by an unnamed relative that he was a citizen of Egypt and the United States. El-Sayed has \u2018never\u2019 had dual citizenship, according to the campaign, which has declined to say when he learned of the mistake and who informed him of it,\u201d the news outlet added.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, El-Sayed <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/abdul-el-sayed-called-on-egypts-muslim-brotherhood-to-purge-the-media-and-police-shortly-before-islamic-government-arrested-reporters-for-insulting-islam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">signed<\/a> a letter by 46 Egyptian leaders in the U.S. in support of then Egyptian President Mohamad Morsi, a senior leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, to \u201cpurge the media and police.\u201d Morsi granted himself broad powers shortly after taking power. He was ultimately deposed by the Egyptian military in 2013, having served just over one year as president.<\/p>\n<p>In a 2011 piece for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/why-the-us-should-support_b_816037\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Huffington Post<\/a>, El-Sayed wrote that Americans have nothing to fear from the Muslim Brotherhood, which is a designated terrorist organization by the <a href=\"https:\/\/home.treasury.gov\/news\/press-releases\/sb0357\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. State Department<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven if the Muslim Brotherhood were to take power [in Egypt], there are several reasons why the ensuing state would look nothing like Iran,\u201d El-Sayed insisted, adding that the Muslim Brotherhood definitely would not resemble Hamas.<\/p>\n<p>El-Sayed was accused of lying earlier this month during an interview with NBC \u201cMeet the Press\u201d host<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-says-nbcs-kristen-welker-will-reported-fcc-rebuke-punishment-purposeful-inaccuracy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Kristen Welker<\/a> when he claimed his family had no ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cCan you set the record straight about whether you or your family have any ties to the Muslim Brotherhood?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Abdul El-Sayed: No.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, you don\u2019t have any ties?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>El-Sayed: No<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd your family doesn\u2019t?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>El-Sayed: No https:\/\/t.co\/ZJhAxfzOOe<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bobby LaValley (@Bobby_LaVallley) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Bobby_LaVallley\/status\/2109288714799030658?\">October 11, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>However, his half-sister Eman Abdelhadi, a University of Chicago assistant professor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/caught-el-sayed-says-family-no-ties-muslim-brotherhood-sisters-devastating-tweets-surface\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proudly boasted<\/a> in 2012, days after Morsi took office, \u201cMy family has long been MB.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir mother, Fatten Elkomy, was active in the Brotherhood in college in Egypt in the 1970s, Abdelhadi said,\u201d according to The Free Beacon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have had family jailed for being a part of it,\u201d she added in a separate X post published on July 3, 2013. \u201cPraying for all my family that supports the #MB in Egypt. Lie low, stay safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vance is right. El-Sayed has been caught in lies, and they are lies that are anti-American in nature.
