The piece condemns the military and media&#8217;s double standards, highlighting their past involvement in filming and disseminating violent images while condemning similar acts when related to executions.It also references the Obama governance\u2019s mischaracterization of the Fort Hood attack as \u201cworkplace violence,\u201d and criticizes those who oppose livestreaming as part of a broader hypocrisy rooted in the military-industrial complex and war propaganda. The author argues that such public executions would only fuel terrorism by turning them into spectacles for extremists and that society should reject these grisly displays altogether.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>What a bunch of freaking phonies!\u00a0The generals who brought you drone bombing footage to your nightly newscasts fired off a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cmp3gnngv3e9o\">letter<\/a> blasting Department of War Secretary Pete Hegseth\u2019s decision to livestream the execution of an Islamist terrorist 17 years after his murderous rampage at the U.S. Army installation at Fort Hood. President Donald Trump has since reversed the plan. <\/p>\n<p>The group of 72 self-righteous retired U.S. generals, admirals, and other high-ranking military officers audaciously argue that covering Nidal Hasan\u2019s death by firing squad would transform a \u201csolemn and grave punishment\u201d into \u201ca carnival for the enjoyment of voyeurs and spectators.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >anti-livestreaming sentiment military officials<\/a> are peddling  \u2014 and the media are promoting \u2014 is rich considering the parts those parties played in such death films as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/investigations\/yemenis-drone-strike-turned-wedding-funeral-n5781\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A Yemen Wedding and 12 Funerals<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/01\/19\/us\/politics\/afghanistan-drone-strike-video.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Drones Over Kabul.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis type of exploitative broadcasting \u2014 that debases human dignity \u2014 will taint the honor of the military that employs it, and a nation that allows it,\u201d the former military brass <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cmp3gnngv3e9o\">insist.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Shut up, you insufferable mutts. How many thousands of guilty and innocent men, women, and children bombed into human pulp have these masters of war ordered filmed? <\/p>\n<p>And the sanctimonious corporate media players that have piled on in their distaste for very public executions have giddily and gratuitously hit play on coverage of the carnage. <\/p>\n<p>Remember the Obama administration drone attack that, we\u2019re told, was targeting an al-Qaida militant. Turns out what the bombs hit was a Yemeni wedding, killing 12 and injuring 14 others. NBC News in January 2014 proudly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/investigations\/yemenis-drone-strike-turned-wedding-funeral-n5781\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced i<\/a>t had \u201cobtained exclusive videos and photos taken in the aftermath of the strike.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe graphic images show the scorched bodies of young men who villagers say were part of a convoy on their way to the wedding celebration when they were killed in their pickups by two Hellfire missiles fired by a U.S. drone,\u201d NBC News reported at the time. <\/p>\n<p>And show them they did. Was it to expose the horrors of war and a bungling administration overmatched in its pursuit of terrorists? Perhaps. But NBC News, like its brethren in the video press, has long indulged deeply in morbid pornography. <\/p>\n<p>As Don Henley <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fwgJgTL5JmE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said,<\/a> \u201cIt\u2019s interesting when people die.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And generals who have fed the fever with endless wars have little standing in this matter. <\/p>\n<p>Department of Justice weaponizer Eric Holder also has no standing on the execution of the terrorist. But there was bloviating anyway. The former attorney general <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/2aFoV_sRzvg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">called<\/a> the livestream proposal \u201ca disgrace.\u201d As they say, it takes a disgrace to know a disgrace. <\/p>\n<p>Wasn\u2019t Holder the AG for the same president, Barack Obama, whose administration couldn\u2019t even classify Hasan\u2019s terrorist attack on a U.S. military installation as a terrorist attack on a U.S. military installation? He was. Fearing being labeled as Islamophobic, Barack Hussein Obama\u2019s Pentagon listed the \u201cincident\u201d as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.com\/Blotter\/members-congress-demand-obama-administration-classify-ft-hood\/story?id=18493746\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">workplace violence<\/a>.\u201d This despite the fact that the terrorist screamed \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/ft-hood-shooting-suspect-nidal-malik-hasan-reportedly-shouted-allahu-akbar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Allahu Akbar<\/a>\u201d as he began systematically shooting dozens of his U.S. military comrades at the Texas military installation in central Texas. Hasan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-us-canada-23584265\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admitted<\/a> in court that he murdered and maimed to defend the Taliban from the United States. <\/p>\n<p>Categorizing the mass shooting as workplace violence <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.com\/Blotter\/outrage-accused-fort-hood-shooters-300k-pay-spurs\/story?id=19747530\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">denied<\/a> the victims and their families the financial benefits they were entitled to. <\/p>\n<p>I agree with the vast majority of Americans who believe live streaming Hasan\u2019s execution would be gratuitous and would only serve to create more Islamist maniacs bucking for martyrdom. These freak shows truly believe 72 virgins await them after the bullet hits the brain or the bomb blows them and innocents to smithereens. <\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t need any more of that. <\/p>\n<p>We also don\u2019t need Trump-hating members of the military-industrial complex and their promoters of war porn to lecture us on \u201cexploitative broadcasting.\u201d <\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Matt Kittle is a senior elections correspondent for The Federalist.
