And your waffle fries, are they cool with transgender identity? Would the person frying your lunch give a 12-year-old a prescription for puberty blockers? I tried to order a Whopper yesterday, but the Burger King cashier wouldn\u2019t affirm her commitment to providing surgical neo-vaginas to adolescents with public funding, so I stormed out in a rage. It\u2019s important to have standards.<\/p>\n<p>This very important topic comes to us from NBC News, which questioned Chick-fil-A CEO Andrew Cathy this week about the premise that \u201cthey don\u2019t stand with the LGBTQ+ community.\u201d <\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Chick-fil-A CEO on the Company&apos;s Stance on LGBTQ+ Rights\" width=\"422\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ObZEXWAAVcg?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>It\u2019s a question that isn\u2019t a question, asked in word-shaped things that have no meaning. How would that <em>work<\/em>? How does a bag of sandwiches \u201cstand with\u201d the entire global class of lesbians, say, for example? Do the chicken sandwiches have to engage in some sort of sexual act, or is there just a ritual statement the chicken patty has to recite?<\/p>\n<p>Cathy said in response that he runs a restaurant and the business is happy to sell sandwiches to anyone who wants to come in and order one. It\u2019s like a shoe store manager saying that he\u2019s happy to sell shoes, or a produce guy offering you a bag of carrots, by which I mean that it\u2019s a HUGE CONTROVERSY. Go read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5atlanta.com\/news\/chick-fil-a-ceo-faces-backlash-after-lgbtq-rights-interview?link_source=ta_first_comment&#038;taid=6ad0d7b37d5e1200017d1a9b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this 70-IQ news story<\/a> as an example: \u201cCathy emphasized that customers are welcome, but did not directly state the company\u2019s position on LGBTQ rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Note as well that the linked story starts at pathetic and then spirals down rapidly into details like this: \u201cValerie Bertinelli said she had never tried Chick-fil-A and had no plans to after watching the interview.\u201d Dear reader: Please provide a precise count of the number of times in your life that you\u2019ve wondered if Valerie Bertinelli wants to eat a Chick-fil-A sandwich.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a complete list I just wrote of things that are less important than a fast food restaurant\u2019s <em>position on \u201cLGBT rights\u201d<\/em>:<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>When you go to the hardware store to buy a hammer, do you ask them where they stand on the right of trans-identifying children of color to <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >access state-funded assisted suicide<\/a>? \u201cI will have the 20-ounce claw hammer, but only if you\u2019re willing to explicitly assert the right of nonbinary Asian-Pacific Islanders to engage in polyamorous relationships.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re getting their X in our Y, their views on (not a chicken sandwich) into (thing that is an actual chicken sandwich). Politics and culture war are being forced into <em>everything<\/em>.
