The change came after criticism from both Democratic and Republican officials, who argued that livestreaming such events is inappropriate, undermines the dignity of justice, and resembles oppressive regimes. Trump stated that the execution will proceed as scheduled but will not be broadcast, allowing victims\u2019 families the choice to view the event in person. Many lawmakers expressed concern that turning executions into public spectacles diminishes the moral authority of the justice system and fosters a culture of entertainment around violence. Nidal Hasan.<\/p>\n<p>Hasan is scheduled to be publicly executed by firing squad at Ford Hood on Dec. 3. Earlier this month, War Secretary Pete Hegseth revealed that the execution would be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-okays-execution-muslim-fort-hood-shooter-killed-13-people-2009-method-will-fitting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">public<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But in a  post published late Thursday morning, the president wrote that the execution will \u201cnot be streamed\u201d going forward.<\/p>\n<p>The president attributed this change to criticism from \u201cgood and well meaning people.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">BREAKING: Trump rules out livestream for Fort Hood attacker Nidal Hasan\u2019s firing squad execution https:\/\/t.co\/ZTlHU2qgLf<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Fox News (@FoxNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FoxNews\/status\/2110735505285423458?\">October 15, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think streaming the execution for all to see might have been a strong deterrent for the World to witness how America deals with Terrorists and SCUM like Hasan but, many very good and well meaning people would rather not watch him die, through streaming, or through any other visual device,\u201d the president wrote on <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/117445309638266855\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe will die, as scheduled, by firing squad, but this event will not be streamed,\u201d he added. \u201cThat said, the execution may be viewed in person by the immediate families of the victims, if they so choose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-fort-hood-execution-9b48781e88660064bf0f5aa020db8df7?taid=6ad0e1dd383c70000146d46d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Associated Press<\/a>, this change in plans comes after the original livestreaming plan sparked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/five-republicans-break-ranks-trump-venezuela-cripple-ability-use-military-country\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bipartisan backlash<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the backlash came from House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member Adam Smith, a Washington state Democrat who released a statement through the committee calling the livestream proposal \u201cdisturbing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smith further argued that the livestream \u201cmakes a mockery of our legal system\u201d and would turn the rule of law into a spectacle.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cCalling for a livestream of the execution of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan is disturbing and makes a mockery of our legal system. There is a reason why we treat the meting out of justice with the seriousness it demands. John Curtis <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SenJohnCurtis\/status\/2108592492119499099\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a> on the social media platform X. \u201cA civilization erodes when it cultivates an appetite for executions as a form of entertainment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecretary Hegseth\u2019s plan to livestream the Fort Hood execution risks feeding that appetite,\u201d he added. \u201cThe victims deserve justice administered with solemnity. Broadcasting a death diminishes us and is not an effective deterrent. I urge him to reconsider.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pennsylvania Rep. Rob Bresnahan echoed this sentiment in a post of his own:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">An execution shouldn\u2019t be a live-streamed spectacle. The focus should be on justice for the victims and their families, not turning an execution into entertainment. Austin Scott and North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis followed suit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI absolutely support the sentence of death, but live-streaming executions is what jihadists do,\u201d Scott <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AustinScottGA08\/status\/2108557921193726414\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a> on X. \u201cAmerica is better than that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPublic executions are what oppressive dictatorships like Iran and Afghanistan do,\u201d Tillis <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SenThomTillis\/status\/2108378850770014334\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">added<\/a>. \u201cIt should not be happening in America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/report-last-straw-led-trump-firing-pam-bondi-eric-swalwell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">final straw<\/a> appeared to come from Vice President J.D.
