Ilhan Omar of her citizenship, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>The effort, which included a raid on Omar\u2019s house in Washington, D.C., on Monday morning, is targeting the lawmaker over her alleged use of a fake birthdate on her naturalization paperwork.<\/p>\n<p>Omar, who was naturalized in 2000, claimed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/legal-expert-jonathan-turley-says-ilhan-omar-line-denaturalization-immigration-laws-clear\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">that she was a minor at the time<\/a>, yet her birthdate as listed publicly would have made her as at least 18 when she attempted to get citizenship automatically through her naturalized father.<\/p>\n<p>If she were 18 or older, she would have had to apply independently.<\/p>\n<p>Omar then allegedly modified her official birthdate to read 1982. She has previously claimed that her birth records were destroyed when she was fleeing Somalia.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration has already been involved in an effort to identify and strip citizenship from individuals who have lied on their applications, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/politics\/policy\/ilhan-omar-investigation-aims-to-build-case-for-stripping-her-citizenship-6adf1edc?mod=e2twp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a> noted \u2014 and Omar \u201ccould become the highest-profile \u2014 and most controversial \u2014 part of that effort.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">BREAKING WSJ:<\/p>\n<p>The Trump admin\u2019s investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar is aimed at building a case to strip her of her U.S. citizenship and ultimately deport her, according to U.S. officials and other people familiar with the probe. https:\/\/t.co\/PHvSOihjJN<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kyle Griffin (@kylegriffin1) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/kylegriffin1\/status\/2110512395470987450?\">October 14, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>As part of the raid, federal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-doj-seized-ilhan-omars-phone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">agents seized Omar\u2019s phone<\/a> and other documents.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ve also issued subpoenas for Omar\u2019s family members, including her sister.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday in the Washington, D.C., area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-ilhan-omars-dc-home-raided-by-dhs\/\" title=\"Breaking: ...s DC Home Raided by DHS\">judicially authorized search warrant secured<\/a> by the Department of Justice,\u201d the Justice Department said in a statement on Monday after the raid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Omar has maintained that this was a political operation meant to silence her, a federal judge in Washington, D.C., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/think-ilhan-omar-raid-maga-setup-think-look-judge-duty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">signed off on the warrant<\/a>, and a source told the media there was \u201ccompelling evidence\u201d of a federal crime.<\/p>\n<p>However, The Wall Street Journal article was the first positive indication that the Trump administration was looking to make Omar the highest-profile case of denaturalization.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the Wednesday evening report indicated it was a \u201cmultipronged effort\u2026 both on the congresswoman and actions of her deceased father.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A report from the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/10\/13\/us-news\/ilhan-omars-father-was-loyal-to-somali-dictator-misrepresented-himself-as-a-refugee-source\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a> on Tuesday indicated that Omar\u2019s father had been a military <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/expert-ilhan-omars-dad-never-refugee-actually-commander-military-killed-200k-people\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">commander for the Somali regime<\/a>, which would have made him ineligible for asylum under U.S. law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNur Said was a military officer who was loyal to the regime until the end,\u201d Oxford University academic Mohamed Haji Ingiriis told the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was part and parcel of those who caused and created the mayhem they \u2018fled\u2019 to live comfortably in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe only fled when the dictatorship fell in 1991,\u201d Ingiriis added. \u201cHe was the beneficiary of the military regime and should not have been given asylum whatsoever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the investigation into Omar has been ongoing, the president insisted that he had not specifically targeted her as an example.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">President Trump on federal agents raiding Rep.
