Ilhan Omar\u2019s phone as they searched her Washington, D.C., home during a Monday morning raid.<\/p>\n<p>The seizure was part of an investigation into potential immigration-related crimes, according to two people familiar with the investigation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/trump-administration\/doj-issues-subpoenas-probe-rep-ilhan-omars-immigration-status-family-m-rcna603444\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFederal agents cited a number of potential immigration crimes, including conspiracy and false statements in immigration paperwork, one of the people said,\u201d the outlet added.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities have also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-doj-subpoenas-ilhan-omars-sister-family-evidence-fraudulent-immigration-paperwork\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">issued several subpoenas<\/a> involving family members and other associates of Omar, including her sister Sahra Noor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/10\/13\/us\/politics\/justice-dept-ilhan-omar-subpoenas.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Justice said in a Monday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/police-likely-amassed-compelling-evidence-end-long-investigation-ilhan-omar-even-raid-source\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>, \u201cToday in the Washington, D.C., area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-ilhan-omars-dc-home-raided-by-dhs\/\" title=\"Breaking: Ilhan Omar&#039;s DC ... ...ed by DHS\">judicially authorized search warrant secured<\/a> by the Department of Justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,\u201d the statement concluded.<\/p>\n<p>A source told the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/10\/12\/us-news\/why-did-feds-raid-ilhan-omars-dc-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a> there is \u201ccompelling evidence\u201d of a federal crime. Further, the investigation might be related to unverified claims that Omar lied about her age to gain U.S. citizenship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOmar claims she received automatic U.S. citizenship in 2000 at age 17, granted to minor-age children of naturalized parents \u2014 in this case her father, Nur Said Mohamed Elmi, who fled to the U.S. in 1995 from war-torn Somalia,\u201d the Post said.<\/p>\n<p>Former assistant U.S. attorney Jonathan Fahey told the outlet, \u201cThe big picture here is a federal judge in Washington, D.C., signed off on a search warrant. That means there\u2019s probable cause that a federal crime was committed, and there would be evidence of that crime in the area to be searched, which in this case was Representative Omar\u2019s home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, Minnesota resident A.J. Kern asserted in a video that Omar was actually 18 or 19 in 2000.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo days after Kern released a viral video about Omar\u2019s alleged real age, Omar\u2019s official birth year on the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library\u2019s website was revised from 1981 to 1982, according to Kern, who pointed to archived versions of the site which revealed the change,\u201d the Post said. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/legal-expert-jonathan-turley-says-ilhan-omar-line-denaturalization-immigration-laws-clear\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Congressional records<\/a> today report Omar was born in October 1982, making her 17 at the time of naturalization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Investigators could be seen removing boxes from the Minnesota congresswoman\u2019s home.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">JUST IN: RAID ON REP.
