Kennedy Jr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/health\/2026\/07\/27\/faucis-diary-released-revealing-his-thoughts-fame-rambling-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">found<\/a> Anthony Fauci\u2019s private diary on HHS servers. Sen. Rand Paul <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paul.senate.gov\/readingroom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">has released<\/a> all 1,100-plus pages of it. And that Fauci diary \u2014 paired with my own memoir of the pandemic \u2014 provides some of the very best evidence for the case that makes up the title of my new book: <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Why-Fauci-MUST-Rot-Prison\/dp\/1648213022\/https:\/www.amazon.com\/Why-Fauci-MUST-Rot-Prison\/dp\/1648213022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Why Fauci MUST Rot in Prison<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The four questions I ask are the same that would be asked of any chief executive who financed a dangerous experiment overseas, learned that a catastrophe killing millions might trace back to it, and then helped construct a public story pointing anywhere but back at himself: What did Fauci know? When did he know it? What did he do next? And who died because of it? <\/p>\n<p>By the book\u2019s end, I, the prosecutor, lay out possible criminal charges that range from manslaughter by culpable negligence and conspiracy to defraud the United States to obstruction and state-law homicide theories. And you, the jury, will render the verdict.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s start with the money.\u00a0Tony Fauci ran the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) for 38 years and sat atop billions of dollars in infectious-disease research funding. His institute awarded EcoHealth Alliance <a href=\"https:\/\/reporter.nih.gov\/project-details\/9819304\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a grant titled \u201cUnderstanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence.\u201d<\/a>  <\/p>\n<div>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/extremely-disconcerting-nih-didnt-track-us-funds-going-to-chinese-virus-research-watchdog-finds-004808475.html?guccounter=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EcoHealth sent $598,611 from that grant to the Wuhan Institute of Virology<\/a>, where researchers constructed chimeric bat coronaviruses and tested them in humanized mice in ways that did indeed make the viruses more dangerous to humans.\u00a0Moreover, U.S. intelligence <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.dni.gov\/files\/ODNI\/documents\/assessments\/Report-on-Potential-Links-Between-the-Wuhan-Institute-of-Virology-and-the-Origins-of-COVID-19-20230623.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">says<\/a> Wuhan lab personnel worked with scientists associated with China\u2019s People\u2019s Liberation Army. <\/p>\n<p>That is not conspiracy theory. It is a grant number, a subaward, and progress reports. <\/p>\n<div>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Running dangerous gain-of-function experiments through the Wuhan lab should have entailed extraordinary oversight. Instead, the Department of Health and Human Services\u2019 (HHS) inspector general <a href=\"https:\/\/oig.hhs.gov\/reports\/all\/2023\/the-national-institutes-of-health-and-ecohealth-alliance-did-not-effectively-monitor-awards-and-subawards-resulting-in-missed-opportunities-to-oversee-research-and-other-deficiencies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">found<\/a> that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and EcoHealth \u2014 and by extension Fauci \u2014 failed to monitor the work. <\/p>\n<p>The Department of Defense had reportedly already looked at this work and refused to fund it, <a href=\"https:\/\/katv.com\/news\/nation-world\/dod-rejects-ecohealth-bid-due-to-concerns-over-gain-of-function-research-report-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">flagging the gain-of-function risk<\/a> its sponsors hadn\u2019t bothered to assess.\u00a0And HHS later <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Dr.-Peter-Daszak-HHS-Notice_Jan-17-2025_Redacted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">debarred<\/a> EcoHealth and its president, Peter Daszak, from federal funding for five years for hiding data and reporting inadequately. <\/p>\n<p>In summary, Fauci used taxpayer money to offshore dangerous gain-of-function technology to a Wuhan lab with ties to the Chinese military.\u00a0The Chinese used \u2014 and likely improved \u2014 this technology in ways that almost certainly led to the engineering and escape or release of the Covid virus in late 2019.   <\/p>\n<p>Fauci\u2019s move to cover up his own likely culpability began with an alarming Jan. 31, 2020, call with scientists Jeremy Farrar and Kristian Andersen. <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20260729180705\/https:\/www.paul.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/2026.07.24_Tonys-Diary-Package.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fauci\u2019s diary records their concern<\/a> that mutations around the furine-cleavage site \u201ccould not have occurred naturally.\u201d  <\/p>\n<div>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The next day came the larger call.\u00a0Fauci\u2019s diary lists a dozen scientists and senior biomedical officials who participated. Ten of the 12 argued a laboratory origin was plausible, wrote Fauci. And given Shi Zhengli\u2019s years of coronavirus work in Wuhan \u2014 Shi is the infamous bat lady of Wuhan \u2014 Fauci <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20260729180705\/https:\/www.paul.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/2026.07.24_Tonys-Diary-Package.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recorded<\/a>: \u201c[W]e could not let this go.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>But let it go Fauci did.\u00a0Within weeks, two scientists who first said the virus was from the lab, Kristian Andersen and Robert Garry, produced \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41591-020-0820-9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2<\/a>\u201d in <em>Nature Medicine<\/em>.\u00a0They argued the virus came from nature.  <\/p>\n<p>At the time, <a href=\"https:\/\/warn-id.org\/international-research-alliance-launched-to-boost-pandemic-preparedness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">these two flip-floppers had an $8.9-million grant<\/a> pending Fauci\u2019s approval \u2014 and Andersen would acknowledge that the work on the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41591-020-0820-9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Proximal Origin<\/a>\u201d paper had been \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/2023.03.05-SSCP-Memo-Re.-New-Evidence.Proximal-Origin.pdf#page=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">prompted<\/a>\u201d by Fauci along with his boss and the head of HHS, Francis Collins. <\/p>\n<p>I do not call this a bribe but rather an inexcusable, undisclosed conflict at the center of the century\u2019s defining scientific question: Where did the SARS-CoV-2 virus come from? <\/p>\n<p>At roughly the same time, EcoHealth President Peter Daszak <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/lancet\/article\/PIIS0140-6736(20)30418-9\/fulltext\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">co-signed a statement<\/a> in The Lancet roundly condemning suggestions of a Wuhan lab origin of the virus as \u201cconspiracy theories.\u201d\u00a0This was the same Daszak who funneled Fauci-approved grant money to the Wuhan lab to support the gain-of-function research that likely led to the virus\u2019 engineering. Daszak didn\u2019t disclose his obvious conflict either. <\/p>\n<div>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>None of this proves a criminal cover-up.\u00a0What it does give is motive, opportunity, relationships, chronology, and witnesses. <\/p>\n<p>Because of Joe Biden\u2019s sweeping federal pardon of Fauci, the most viable path to accountability now runs through the states, and Florida offers the strongest homicide theory. Its manslaughter statute reaches culpable negligence. Its courts have jurisdiction over any death that occurs inside the state. It has no statute of limitations on a felony that results in death. And it has a statewide prosecutor built for complex, multi-county cases. Attorney General James Uthmeier is already moving on the case. <\/p>\n<p>Texas presents a narrower but potentially powerful avenue involving unborn children because Texas homicide law recognizes an unborn child as an individual from fertilization forward. Fauci <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ronjohnson.senate.gov\/2026\/08\/10\/senators-johnson-paul-release-initial-texts-from-dr-faucis-government-iphone-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">failed to disclose<\/a> the potential risk of miscarriage to pregnant women and instead pushed the universal jab as safe. <\/p>\n<p>Louisiana offers still a third possible forum through its criminal-negligence laws. Attorney General Liz Murrill has already joined the Florida effort and is exploring options. <\/p>\n<p>As for the prosecution strategy, put Daszak and the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41591-020-0820-9\">Proximal Origin<\/a>\u201d authors under oath.\u00a0Next, secure the cooperation of Fauci\u2019s former senior adviser David Morens under his plea agreement. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-md\/pr\/former-senior-niaid-official-pleads-guilty-charges-connected-concealing-federal-records\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Morens pleaded guilty on Aug. 18<\/a> to conspiracy to commit offenses and defraud the United States in a scheme involving concealed federal records related to coronavirus research grants. He faces up to five years. <\/p>\n<p>Then question Fauci\u2019s longtime special assistant, Patricia Conrad. <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Final-Report-6.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Public records place<\/a> Conrad directly in the Jan. 31, 2020, communications setting up Fauci\u2019s origins discussions with Jeremy Farrar and the virologists alarmed by the virus.  <\/p>\n<div>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Paul <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paul.senate.gov\/op_eds\/rand-paul-will-the-real-anthony-fauci-please-stand-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">now says<\/a> his investigation uncovered a message from Fauci\u2019s assistant saying she had \u201cdeleted a ton\u201d of Fauci\u2019s emails. Paul wants to know who ordered the destruction, how many records disappeared, how long the practice continued, and what subjects those records covered.  <\/p>\n<p>Fauci has had television interviews, congressional testimony, medals, a presidential pardon \u2014 even a bobblehead.
