Though, due to a mistake, the ad was mistakenly aired in Portland, Oregon, rather of Portland, Maine. The ad targeted Collins\u2019 Democratic opponent,Troy Jackson,portraying him negatively. The PAC\u2019s president expressed disappointment over the error and attributed responsibility to the ad buyer, which refunded the money and moved the ad to the correct location. The race is currently very close, with polls showing it as a toss-up amid other controversies. Susan Collins of Maine get re-elected aired an advertisement for her in the wrong state.<\/p>\n<p>A $25,000 ad from the Republican PAC Defending Main Street ran in Portland, Oregon, rather than Portland, Maine, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/politics\/2026\/10\/ad-about-maine-senate-race-plays-in-wrong-portland.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according<\/a> to The Oregonian.<\/p>\n<p>The advertisement targeted Collins\u2019 Democratic opponent and branded him as \u201cTaxin\u2019 Troy Jackson.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>President of the PAC, Sarah Chamberlain, said she was \u201cvery unhappy\u201d about the gaffe and expressed shock at the mistake.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really upset,\u201d she declared. \u201cI cannot believe that this happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chamberlain also said the PAC is not to blame and claimed responsibility lies with the ad buyer, Cross Screen Media.<\/p>\n<p>Cross Screen Media issued a statement saying that the error was \u201c100 percent\u201d on them and refunded the $25,000.<\/p>\n<p>The advertisement has been pulled from Oregon and is now running in Maine.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/o7k_qgDdrSQ?si=Pzzxf6RnNEQ9t0uW\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This news comes as Collins is locked in a tight race with Jackson. Recent polls show the race as a toss-up, Newsweek <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/maine-senate-polling-susan-collins-troy-jackson-head-third-debate-12561510\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Collins has broken with Republicans on a number of occasions. She has been in the Senate for nearly 30 years.<\/p>\n<p>This particular contest was also rocked by controversy after the original Democratic nominee, Graham Platner, was forced to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/graham-platner-drops-maine-senate-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">drop out<\/a> of the race in July.<\/p>\n<p>Platner faced several scandals, including the discovery of a Nazi tattoo on his chest, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/grassley-blasts-fbi-doj-as-corrupted-to-their-very-core-after-whistleblowers-allege-biden-family-business-coverup\/\" title=\"Grassley Blasts FBI, DOJ As \u2018Corrupted To Their Very Core\u2019 After Whistleblowers Allege Biden Family Business Coverup\">inappropriate social media posts<\/a>, infidelity, and allegations of abuse toward former girlfriends.<\/p>\n<p>He was finally forced to step aside after he was publicly accused of rape by Maine Democrat Jenny Racicot.<\/p>\n<p>This caused party leadership and other major Democratic figures to turn against him, ultimately ending his campaign.<\/p>\n<p>His replacement, Jackson, is not without his own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dem-running-midterms-backed-trans-prison-policy-female-inmate-said-killer-threatened-rape\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">baggage<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While serving as President of the Maine Senate in 2021, he voted for a state policy allowing trans-identifying men into women\u2019s prisons.<\/p>\n<p>Republican super PAC Pine Tree Results spent $1.1 million on an ad campaign to attack Jackson\u2019s stance on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>It highlighted how under this law, a female inmate was allegedly harassed and threatened with rape by a trans-identifying male who was being housed in the prison.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Senate president, Jackson signed the bill requiring state prisons to house biological men if they identify as female with women prisoners,\u201d the ad stated.<\/p>\n<p>The male inmate, Andrea Balcer, had been convicted of killing his parents and their family dog. He was moved from the Maine State Prison to the women\u2019s section of the Maine Correctional Institute in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The female inmate, Katie Mountain, was serving a 10-month sentence.
