Talarico, who hopes to flip a Senate seat in November, mysteriously vanished for 12 days, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/talarico-makes-first-appearance-long-absence-rumors-claim-wasnt-flu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">leading to questions about his absence<\/a> with the \u201cflu\u201d that the <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2026\/10\/11\/politics\/james-talarico-flu-return-campaign-trail-texas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media dismissed<\/a> as \u201cconspiracy theories.\u201d If he were a Republican, Talarico would already be under indictment for something by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cornell-7-figure-fights-back-improper-appointment-letitia-james-court-move\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Letitia James<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s not the only reason he\u2019s going viral right now, thanks to a minor-league <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/briii.likethecheese\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lefty influencer<\/a> by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/brinunn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">name<\/a> of Briana Nunn-Williams.<\/p>\n<p>According to a post on Instagram last week, Nunn-Williams got into an argument with a couple which \u201cchose to buy a home directly across the street from an HBCU where there is LEGAL street parking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In this case, the historically black school was Huston-Tillotson University in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/worse-cracker-barrel-austin-texas-roasted-butchering-city-crest-bizarre-rebrand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Austin, Texas<\/a>. The couple was white, and they had a sign out front announcing that they were supporting James Talarico.<\/p>\n<p>They immediately said that they had paid $1.5 million for the home and therefore could dictate who parked there, something that Nunn-Williams (or whoever was confronting them in the video) disagreed with.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that she degraded our school and said she paid 1.5 million dollars to gentrify our neighborhood and said we only have a 25% graduation rate is SO racist and disgusting,\u201d she said in the caption to her post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI kindly asked she not touch our cars because it\u2019s legal to park there which resulted in her threatening the call the cops on me,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was also standing in the street which was not on her property. See how quickly she screams at me and asserts her privilege over a Black Woman. Please if you know who this is, alert her job so people can be aware of how she behaves towards Black people. font-weight: normal; line-height: 17px; text-decoration: none;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DeSaRtpvuIH\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;utm_campaign=loading\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A post d by @briii.likethecheese<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>I get that this wasn\u2019t a great show on Spandex Karen\u2019s part, but are we really sure that this is \u201cwhite supremacist\u201d behavior that is \u201cendangering lives?\u201d I somewhat doubt it.<\/p>\n<p>However, this whole spat might end up being a symbol of something much more important than Talarico\u2019s \u201cflu\u201d (or whatever) in the whole scheme of things.<\/p>\n<p>For all his other strengths, the Democratic nominee represents a ball of inchoate liberal luxury beliefs ambling around the Texas plains, looking for the kind of people who might be caught on video telling someone who has a beef with them how much their house costs when you argue with them about parking.<\/p>\n<p>This set of positions \u2014 described, memorably, by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/even-cnns-abby-phillip-cant-help-laugh-cringy-talarico-clip-woke-mad-libs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN\u2019s Abby Phillip<\/a> as \u201cwoke mad libs\u201d and \u201ccringy\u201d \u2014 doesn\u2019t exactly get black voters excited the same way it does with whites.<\/p>\n<p>It also doesn\u2019t help that Talarico beat Rep. Jasmine Crockett in the primary; while Crockett had zero chance of winning the general election, she\u2019s made things harder for him by calling the primary \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/viral-clip-proves-jasmine-crockett-still-cant-blame-senate-primary-loss-talarico-racist-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a racist race<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And lo and behold, Democrats worry that he\u2019s going to be tripped up by his lack of black support.<\/p>\n<p>Ashley Etienne, former communications director for Vice President Kamala Harris, told NBC News\u2019 \u201cMeet the Press\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dems-worry-james-talarico-lacks-support-black-voters-win-texas-senate-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">that there was concern<\/a> among Democratic operatives about \u201cmild enthusiasm among black voters,\u201d among other issues.<\/p>\n<p>So what has he done to reassure black voters? Throwing them sops like this:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">James Talarico says Karmelo Anthony was convicted because \u201cthere were no black members of the jury\u201d and the \u201csystem is not working for black Texans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Karmelo Anthony stabbed 17-year-old Austin Metcalf to death for absolutely no reason.<\/p>\n<p>And @jamestalarico sides with the killer. https:\/\/t.co\/kFIPWiMxp2<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Brandon Gill (@realBrandonGill) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/realBrandonGill\/status\/2090259492302696475?\">August 20, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Yeah, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-talarico-says-without-black-jurors-karmelo-anthony-couldnt-get-justice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">there\u2019s nothing that says<\/a> \u201cI\u2019m your guy\u201d like saying \u201cI think sympathy for a convicted murderer is important to your life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And now, we have the perfect summation of this: a black activist confronting the typical Talarico booster over stuff that doesn\u2019t matter. To be fair, Nunn-Williams seems to have kept her cool more than Spandex Karen.
