Kathy Hochul as a special prosecutor in the case.<\/p>\n<p>James and Hochul are both fighting for re-election.<\/p>\n<p>In filing its complaint against James, the National Legal and Policy Center <a href=\"https:\/\/nlpc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/NLPC-Letitia-James-bar-complaint-final-.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a> that \u201cthis kind of public statement exhibiting clear bias on a highly publicized case by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/live-texas-lawmakers-begin-impeachment-proceedings-for-gop-ag-ken-paxton\/\" title=\"Texas ...makers start impeachment process for GOP AG Ken Paxton.\">highest law enforcement officer<\/a> of New York violates New York Rules of Professional Conduct even if Ms. James were not appointed as a Special Prosecutor in this case.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">New York AG Letitia James has been hit with a bar ethics complaint over public comments on the \u2018Cornell 7\u2019 case. Does this compromise the investigation?<br \/> #LetitiaJames #Cornell7 #NYPolitics<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Diamond and Silk\u00ae (@DiamondandSilk) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DiamondandSilk\/status\/2109017706217287847?\">October 10, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is clear that she must recuse herself from having anything to do with this case to preserve the impartiality and integrity of any investigation and prosecution,\u201d the complaint filed in the New York Supreme Court said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere can be no doubt that a reasonable lawyer would conclude that her professional judgment in acting as a Special Prosecutor will be adversely affected by her personal interest as expressed in her public posting that she believes the allegations of Jane Doe,\u201d the complaint continued.<\/p>\n<p>Legal ethicist Jack Marshall wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/nlpc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Jack-Marshall-James-Conflict-Ethics-Report-Oct.-7.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">supporting document<\/a> that \u201cthe violation is flagrant, obvious, and therefore shocking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI find it remarkable that the top lawyer in the state of New York could possibly be so unfamiliar with the professional ethics standards of her own state, which have the force of law,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>James\u2019 statement \u201craises suspicion of a rigged, pre-determined and illicit investigation,\u201d Marshall said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo reasonable lawyer, indeed, no reasonable human being, could fail to conclude that such a statement demonstrates a clear bias in favor of \u2018Jane Doe,\u2019\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Kamenar, counsel to the National Legal and Policy Center, said that \u201cLetitia James has exhibited a clear bias in favor of Jane Doe\u2019s allegations and against the Chi Phi defendants,\u201d according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/10\/10\/us-news\/ny-ag-letitia-james-hit-with-bar-complaint-in-cornell-7-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn doing so, she has blatantly violated the ethical rules of professional conduct and cannot serve as a special prosecutor in this case.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">ANOTHER CORNELL SEVEN DROP \ud83d\udea8 Defendant Winston Lee\u2019s attorney, Teny Rose Geragos, is going after NY AG Letitia James AND Gov.
