I\u2019m asking whether he wants America to win, or if he\u2019s one of those Democrats who only believes in America if it can be fundamentally changed to fit their own strange mold of good and evil.<\/p>\n<p>In his case, the hard-left nominee in one of the oddest Senate races in many a year seems to have trouble distinguishing who\u2019s the good guy in the Iran conflict, or whether the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei \u2014 a despot who repressed his own people and murdered those who dissented \u2014 was worth condemning.<\/p>\n<p>Yet again, on Friday, El-Sayed was asked about leaked audio where he discussed deliberately avoiding the subject while speaking in Dearborn, which is a Shia stronghold.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/leaked-audio-dem-senate-candidate-tailors-khamenei-comments-avoid-angering-michigan-muslims\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">During the call with staff<\/a>, El-Sayed noted that \u201cthere are a lot of people in Dearborn who are sad\u201d about Khamenei\u2019s death, and \u201cI just don\u2019t want to comment on Khamenei at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike, I don\u2019t think it\u2019s worth even touching that,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">EXCLUSIVE:<\/p>\n<p>Left-wing Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed told staffers he wanted to avoid taking a public position on the assassination of Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei because \u201cthere are a lot of people in Dearborn who are sad,\u201d audio from a private campaign strategy meeting obtained by the Free Beacon shows.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Washington Free Beacon (@FreeBeacon) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FreeBeacon\/status\/2038633898435817561?\">March 30, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>During his appearance Friday, El-Sayed was asked by a reporter whether he regrets \u201cthe private comments you made on a leaked audio of a call, I think it was in early March, where you talked about the death of Ayatollah Khamenei and many people in Dearborn being sad that day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>El-Sayed\u2019s response was to say that reporters should give him questions he wants to answer.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Abdul El-Sayed gets angry when asked about whether he still mourns the death of Ayatollah Khamenei.<\/p>\n<p>Abdul: \u201cI\u2019m not interested in talking about this, ask about healthcare instead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reporter: \u201cThat\u2019s weird, since you talk about foreign policy a lot.\u201d https:\/\/t.co\/DOXuYXfRYg<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Eyal Yakoby (@EYakoby) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/EYakoby\/status\/2108556612831260904?\">October 9, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know your readers will get you clicks, but it\u2019s actually not relevant to people\u2019s lives. I\u2019m just not interested in this dog and pony show,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I\u2019m just gonna tell you: I think if you look at the legacy of this war \u2014 if you look at all that\u2019s happened under war, the gas prices, the grocery prices, all that Donald Trump has done to devastate the lives of Michiganders because of this war \u2014 I think all of us regret that this war ever happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd if you \u2014 even Mike Rogers, who flip-flopped on this issue, doesn\u2019t even know where he stands. He says the war needs to end,\u201d El-Sayed continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo you should go ask Mike Rogers what he thinks about this ridiculous war. But I don\u2019t do the work of that \u2014 justifying illegal, ridiculous wars \u2014 because you want to ask me a question about a piece of leaked audio. Like, ask smart questions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The reporter then noted that his position on Iran was relevant, given that he frequently talks about foreign policy. But El-Sayed moved on to another reporter \u2014 who, presumably, he thought would ask him \u201csmarter questions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The problem is that the smartest question is the one he can\u2019t answer. Our ostensible ally, Israel, has lobbied us to go to war with Iran,\u201d El-Sayed said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have watched as Iran has responded by bombing all kinds of countries in the Middle East and then choking off the world\u2019s energy supply. So this is a situation in which I don\u2019t think we should be a part. I don\u2019t want to be pushed into war by Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And he won\u2019t even condemn the IRGC absent of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jim-jordan-sums-progressive-platform-scathing-takedown-left-hates-2-countries-america-israel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Israel<\/a> being involved in the equation.
