Despite multiple commands to come down, he caused damage to ceiling tiles, lights, and wiring. After the second floor was evacuated, authorities set up a ladder and mattress to assist in his capture. The suspect, gabriel Hideo, initially climbed down but then tried to re-enter the ceiling, prompting police to remove the ladder. he fell onto the mattress, injured his groin, and tried to flee but was eventually apprehended. Hideo, 21, faces charges including malicious mischief, burglary, and an outstanding warrant. He complied at first, but then tried rushing back up into the ceiling, prompting them to pull the ladder out from under him and teach him a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/man-learns-painful-lesson-attempt-torch-3-tesla-chargers-literally-backfires\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">painful lesson<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">You know it\u2019s going to be an interesting shift when a suspect is crawling in the ceiling at a department store\u2026 \ud83d\udc40\ud83d\ude43<\/p>\n<p>Last Wednesday, VPD officers responded to the Vancouver Mall after employees reported a man crawling around in the ceiling and breaking through ceiling tiles.<\/p>\n<p>Officers gave him multiple commands to come down, but he kept moving through the ceiling, breaking more tiles and damaging lights, wiring and other fixtures.<\/p>\n<p>The second floor was evacuated while officers and firefighters tried to get him down. A ladder was placed in the ceiling, and a mattress was put underneath him in case he fell.<\/p>\n<p>After more than an hour of trying to talk him into coming down, he finally stepped onto the ladder. He then tried to climb back into the ceiling, so officers pulled the ladder away to keep him from going back up.<\/p>\n<p>He landed on the mattress, got up and tried to run. From there, he unsuccessfully tried jumping back up and fleeing the scene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe landed on the mattress, got up and tried to run. That didn\u2019t work out so well,\u201d the agency wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/reel\/1771427660757601\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The man has since been identified as Gabriel Hideo, a 21-year-old who\u2019s been charged with malicious mischief in the first degree and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/burglar-breaks-glass-alerts-armed-alabama-homeowner-last-mistake-ever-made\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">burglary<\/a> in the first degree.
