America never joined the court. We don\u2019t need that court. And we don\u2019t want it,\u201d Rubio said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SecRubio\/status\/2108565647667904647\">video posted on X<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut now, globalist \u2018experts\u2019 that are an ocean away, they don\u2019t care what American citizens think. They want the International Criminal Court to do more, including the prosecution of American citizens and Servicemembers defending their country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey want to prosecute Border Patrol agents that are protecting our nation\u2019s borders, and they want to prosecute our elected leaders that are ensuring our national security. They want more power, and they want it at the expense of our sovereignty as a nation,\u201d Rubio continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Trump will never allow the International Criminal Court to prosecute Americans. We exercised discretion and deferred this designation out of respect for our relationships and in hopes that the ICC would change course or would otherwise be restrained,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite their inaction, we hold out hope for a diplomatic solution. We have structured this action to provide an opportunity for States Parties to negotiate and present a solution to address our concerns.
