In the messages, Jane Doe referred to a sexual encounter as a “gangbang” and included the phrase “our body our choice,” which cast doubt on her claims of involuntary participation. While TMZ published screenshots of these texts, reports by The New York Times and CBS New York omitted the “gangbang” reference and the “our body our choice” remark, instead focusing on other parts of the conversation where Doe reassured the accused that the activities were legal and she enjoyed being with the men involved. Critics argue that the selective reporting omits key context that could influence perception of the case.
