The aircraft was diverted to Miami, where it landed safely around 3:30 a.m. local time. Emergency services attended to the injured, with one passenger transported to a trauma center. Eyewitnesses at Miami airport reported seeing multiple ambulances on the tarmac. The airline attributed the diversion to unexpected turbulence, which caused the plane to drop 25,000 feet during its flight over Jamaica and Cuba. Kennedy International Airport, the plane had to be diverted to Miami, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/severe-turbulence-hospitalizes-8-diverted-new-york-city-flight\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The plane, which was operated by Avianca, a Colombian airline, landed at Miami International Airport around 3:30 am local time.<\/p>\n<p>Eight <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/airplane-passenger-partially-sucked-dislodged-window-injured-emergency-landing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">injured passengers<\/a> were taken to a nearby hospital while the remaining passengers were funneled into another flight headed for JFK International.
